His mother, Antoinette Johnson and father Lindsey Hicklen Sr sperated shortly after there fourth child together. After spending afew more years in Compton his father moved him to Birmingham in 1995, and then moving to Long Beach in 1997 before moving back to Compton in 2003. Jemel has spent some of his childhood years and most of his teenage years on Cherry st, in an area in Compton called Fruit Town where his father resided with his at the time girlfriend.

Jail
Late 2005 he found himself jailed in Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall for a 2nd degree robbery that he had commited with his neighborhood friends, he pled guilty and because of it being his first offense he had gotten thirty days and 30 days hous arrest. A few months later he was back behind bars. In 2007 while incarcerated at Camp Vernon Kilpatrick Jemel studied for a few weeks with the camp's academic team of only 5 scholars and participated in an academic bowl [1]. His camp had placed third but he was satisfied with what he had accomplished. While serving his time in the county jail he ran into a relative of his named Michael Krikorian Jr who spent his childhood in Fruit Town also, now a Neighborhood Compton Crip gang member. Michael was facing 25 years to life for allegedlly kiling a rival gang member. They bumped into each other in the court tanks and began to reminisce on old times and he told Jemel that gang bangin' was for the birds and that it's too many people snitchin'. Later on that day Jemel was released and that would be his last time seeing his relative before his life sentencing. A little after a year Jemel found that Michael's father could possibly be a article writer for the LA Times named Michael Kirkorian [2]. Although Jemel is from Fruit Town has been known to be associated with the Tree Top Pirus, Cedar Block Pirus, Neighborhood Pirus, Elm Street Pirus, and the Leuders Park Pirus.
Hicklen Media Inc.
Early January 2009, Jemel became fascinated with the thought of incorporating the designs, logos, and creative work. He then founded Hicklen Media Inc. which is also the founder of the independent recording and production group Front Line Recordings[3] in Compton is where they both are based.
Front Line Records
Front Line Recordings also known as Front Line is an independent recording and production group based out of Compton[4], and is property of and created by Jemel B. Hicklen for its parent company Hicklen Media Inc. company.
"A week after the hood day on Friday, March 13th the homie Jemel got shot while rehabilitating he made a track 4 days after the shooting, a song with Young Hated called "Got The Whole Hood Sizzlin". He soon learned how to do songs and beats by his lonsome, accross the street from my house was his new address. He formed his production crew of him and his alter egos and calls it Front Line Recordings". - Magic Knight [5]
Fruit Town Piru
Fruit Town was known because of the names of the streets — Cherry, Plum, Peach, Pear, Mulberry, Tamarind, & the street that started the Piru Bloods Piru st. It was one of the roughest neighborhoods in Compton, home of the Fruit Town Piru gang, one of the original gangs in the confederation known as the Bloods and a faction of the Piru Nation[6]. The original Fruit Town Pirus founded the Fruit Town Brims in 1974. It is known as one of the most active Piru gangs in Compton[7], the East Side (E/S) FTP 's territory used to stretch from East to West but now only resides on the Westside, yet they claim East Side (E/S) for historical reasons. Their cliques are situated on the 300, 400, 500, 2000 and 2100 Block within their territory. The Fruit Town Brims, Cedar Block Piru and East Side Pirus are considered allies. Fruit Town is widley known for their gang rivalry with the Compton Tortilla Flats[8]. Fruit Town is located in Bompton but has leaked into New York (Brooklyn), Has been said to be affiliated with Fruit Town because of the street names - Banana, Cherry, Grape, Apple... but that may be questionable.

Fruit Town Brims
The Fruit Town Brims are an off-shoot of the original Fruit Town Pirus founded in 1974 by a former member named Davey who moved to the westside of Los Angeles. But since most gangs on the westside operated under the Brims umbrella, it was named the Fruit Town Brims, as opposed to carrying the Piru banner. Most FTB members attended John Muir Jr. High School. During the 1970s there was the 30s Fruit Town Brims and the 40s Fruit Town Brims. The 40s Fruit Town Brims were located from 41st Street (north) to 48th Street (south) between Vermont (west) and Figueroa (east). Their most revered Crip rivalry is with the Rollin 30's Harlem Crips[9]. Aside from the Fruit Town Pirus, they are also considered allies of the Harvard Park Brims and Van Ness Gangster Brims. Some of the original Fruit Town Brims include Papa Tee, Wendel, Snake, and Teddy Cheese[10]. The Fruit Town Brims get a lot of press coverage due to the fact that they basically border the University of Southern California. Anytime you mix poverty with anything that falls into white media coverage, it's gonna get airtime. They are one of three gangs known for possibly causing trouble with USC students, alongside the Rollin 20's Neighborhood Bloods (allies) and the Rollin 30's OHM (Original Harlem Mafia) Crips (enemies)[11].
