Go Try It On is a web-based social media company that designs and produces mobile applications for fashion.[2] The company’s iOS app allows users to upload photos of their outfit and ask the community for opinions and feedback.[3]

Go Try It On has been featured in ABC News, BusinessInsider, InStyle, and TechCrunch.[4][5][6][3] The company has won several awards, including the Microsoft Biz Spark’s Accelerator Competition Finalist.[7]

History

Go Try It On was founded in 2009 by Marissa Evans, a graduate from Harvard Business School. (BI3) After forming her startup team of CTO Simon Holroyd and Art Director Matt Varghese, the company began website and software development. The company received its first publicity at South by Southwest. (BI4) Following this demonstration, the company officially launched its app in 2010.(GT2) Go Try It On has developed partnerships with fashion companies to improve content for their app. Fashion brands such as Barneys New York, Sephora, and Rebecca Minkoff feature their latest clothing on the application, and users can browse through the catalog and add items they would like to try on. Go Try It On released its iOS application in 2010, which introduced the ability for users to obtain community feedback on their fashion choices. (TC2) Later updates improved the app by adding functions similar to Instagram as well as a camera timer. (TC2) In 2011, the company raised $3 million from Index Ventures and SPA investments to fund the startup of a professional style network which will allow clothing brands to suggest items which match the user’s outfit.
