Sweet Couch is an online shopping portal designed to serve consumers in India.[1][2][3][4] Sweet Couch is best known for providing a digital, online window shopping experience to consumers.[5][6][7][1] The company’s headquarters are in Mumbai, India.[1][8]
History
Rajesh Chokhani founded Sweet Couch in 2012 with Jayshree Nayak, Manish Deora, and Deepak Garg.[1] The website launched in September 2012, but opened to the public in January 2013.[5] Chokhani used his public savings to start the company.[1] As of May 2013, Chokhani, Garg, and Deora run the technical side of the company, while Nayak and Meenakshi Soni handle marketing and content development.[4][9]
About
The website acts as a portal where products from a variety of online retailers can be viewed simultaneously side-by-side.[10][6] This makes it possible for the consumer to have a window shopping experience while not being limited to one retailer or website at a time.[10]
Both businesses and consumers can add merchandise to Sweet Couch.[10] Consumers add products to Sweet Couch via its bookmark plug-in, Shop-Picker.[10][11][6][7][12][4][9] Shop-picker is compatible with Google Chrome, Safari and Firefox browsers.[10] While browsing the internet, users can add products they find to Sweet Couch via this plug-in.[10][7][4][9] Retailers can add their own products to the site by submitting a catalogue to Sweet Couch.[10] Sweet Couch provides this service free of charge so that retailers of all sizes have an equal opportunity on the site.[10]
While browsing products, users have the ability to save items on a shopping list for later, or purchase them immediately.[13][6][8][4][9] When a user is ready to purchase a product, they are directed to the original retailer’s website to complete the purchase.[5][6]
Users can sign into Sweet Couch using their Google+ or Facebook account.[10][8] Once logged in, shoppers can share items via these social media sites.[10] Users can also share their shopping lists with friends, and browse friends’ shopping lists.[11][6][8][9]
Sweet Couch also has a mobile site.[5][6][3][2][8][12]
