Hacienda is a Rock and Roll band from San Antonio, Texas. Formed by cousins Abraham Villanueva (piano/vocals) and Dante Schwebel (guitar/vocals), together with Abraham's brothers Jaime (drums/vocals) and Rene Villanueva (bass/vocals), this Mexican-American quartet blends a raw yet sophisticated style of pop music with harmonies reminiscent of The Beatles and The Beach Boys. [1]

History

Cousins Abraham Villanueva and Dante Schwebel created the foundation for what would become the Hacienda sound, but the two were unable to secure additional members on the same page musically and personally in 2004. Meanwhile the two remaining Villanueva brothers were making a name playing together in a band at bars and house parties outside of San Antonio. There band however was short lived, so when the oppertunity to play in Hacienda appeared, Jaime and Rene completed the lineup and set Hacienda into full swing. In late 2005 the band purchased a small digital recorder and began tracking demos. A demo of 6 songs made it to the hands of Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys and since then, the band's future would be changed indefinitely. Hacienda made quite a buzz in the music world when their 6 song demo was passed around from musicians to record execs, managers, and the like. [2]

Loud is the Night

After hearing the demo, Auerbach pushed the band to continue recording. Hacienda would continue to write and arrange more than twenty songs for selections on thier first record, while periodically sending these homemade demos to Auerbach and others. After a guest spot opening for Black Keys as well as Dr. Dog when their tour rolled through Austin, Auerbach invited the band to Akron, Ohio to record a proper album. At Akron Analog studios, Hacienda would work hard to record their new catalog in two weekends. A key to this was making as much music live in a room as possible. They received a helping hand from new friends Scott McMicken and Frank McElroy of Dr. Dog; who worked on existing harmonies, and created brand new ones, tho embellish the album from start to finish. [3]

Recorded in 2008, "Loud is the Night" unloads slinky, Sixties garage pop embellished by soulful harmonies.[4] "Loud is the Night" will be released on September 16th on Alive Natural Sound.
