October 2022

You may appeal this after six months and not before. Please do not use your talk page to argue about this. Valereee (talk) 14:35, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Note: during the Sept 11-22 2022 block there was apparent sockpuppetry. Valereee (talk) 13:47, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Block options

Thewolfchild – I can see you sent me an email. When I checked, I couldn't see it in my inbox so I don't know what was said. I'm way too sick the last five days, so I'm not going to argue anything. Adamdaley (talk) 23:41, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Adam, just fyi: if you misspell a username and then fix it in a subsequent edit, the notification doesn't go out to the user. So, unless Wolf happened to be watching, he won't have seen your message. The way to fix a misspelled username notification, is to add it again in a new (signed) post; so this time, Thewolfchild should get the ping. Cheers, Mathglot (talk) 00:10, 4 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, didn't know that. Thewolfchild Adamdaley (talk) 00:38, 4 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Adam, your talk page is on my watch list, so pinging is unnecessary. Anyway, you wrote: "...I'm not going to argue anything."
That is probably for the best. In fact, if you ever want to edit Wikipedia again, I would strongly suggest you not post on this page again until next April, when the six-month waiting period is over and you can post an unblock request. At this point, anything you post before then is very likely to result in you losing talk page access, and then if want to request an unblock, you'll have to take your chances with UTRS. In the meantime, you should focus on the various personal issues you've been dealing with at home, I really do hope things improve for you on that front.
Meanwhile, if you feel the need to edit, I suggest you do so at Wikimedia Commons or another sister project, or try Wikia. Do not try socking & evading here on WP again. You've already been caught once and if you try again, you will undoubtedly get caught again, and then you'll be permanently banned. In the meantime, take the six months and think about what went wrong here. Don't dwell on what you think you did right, or "had to do"... but instead, focus on what you did that led to this block. This will hopefully help you prepare for an unblock request, when the time comes. A lot of people were willing to help you and you may find that that many of them are still willing next April. Until then, if you would like to contact me off-wiki, feel free to do so. I've been blocked before, I know it can suck, you're not alone. Cheers - wolf 00:46, 4 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've been thinking of getting into WikiCommons again, but I'm being doubtful with how sick I've been since last Thursday. Think it may have been something I ate during Thursday and have been sick ever since. I'm gonna try and go out today since I'm meeting with my lawyer about reality and with my mother, we've made a little positive progress with mum being represented by a lawyer against the New South Wales Government. That's been going on since August 4, 2021 and 14 kilograms (31 lb), lighter. Since my first ban, my PlayStation 2 has been on pretty much, been playing Ratchet & Clank, Ratchet & Clank 2 and Madden NFL 09, maybe get into Jak II. I'll certain keep an eye on the happenings with WP:MILHIST and it's backlog of new articles. Adamdaley (talk) 00:57, 4 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If you enjoy Commons, by all means try that. It's a lot different than an encyclopedia, so if you want something more like the "Wikipedia experience", try Simple Wikipedia; you can get there from this link: ⟶ simple:#. It's pretty much like regular Wikipedia, it has articles, talk pages for articles, project pages (see simple:WP:WIKIPROJECT#Current WikiProjects for a complete list), templates, and all the usual stuff you're used to seeing at regular Wikipedia; it's just a lot smaller, which can be good, because it's easier to find one's way around. If you'd like to find out more, you could try simple:Wikipedia:Introduction (but that might be too easy for you, because you're an experienced editor, and that's more for newbies) or perhaps better, try this page: simple:Wikipedia:How to write Simple English pages.
If you are able to establish a good track record either at Commons, or simple:, or Wiktionary, or any other Wikimedia sister project of your choice over the next six months, it would strengthen your case, and perhaps make another unblock appeal possible. If you have questions, the equivalent of the "Tea house" or "Help desk" over there is called Wikipedia:Simple talk (but if you forget, if you search for "Tea house" or "Help desk" it will take you there anyway). You're also welcome to {{ping}} me from simple: or from commons: with questions, and I'll answer if I can. Good luck, Adam. All the best, Mathglot (talk) 02:06, 4 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Once again, Mathglot has come up with some pretty good ideas for you, Adam. If you have any questions for him about these sites, ask him there, not here. The best thing you can do is mark 2 Arpil 2023 on your calander, and then sign out and stay away from WP completely until then. You can of course read articles, but you don't need to be signed into an account for that. But don't make any IP edits at all either during this time. Even if you think it's absolutely needed to be done, or you figured no one would notice... it would be a huge mistake. So, work on real life issues and check out the sister sites. Hopefully you'll be able to craft a strong and sincere unblock request in six months and come back again. Until then, however... take care. - wolf 04:51, 4 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate you Wolf and of course Mathglot. Since Thursday, I've had a stomach bug, vomiting and diarrhea. Thankfully both have stopped since the weekend. I'm mainly having to deal with the lack of energy and I've been able to keep down any food today even though it wasn't "healthy", it's something I have managed to stay in at either ends. I know you Americans call diarrhea it "Hersey Squirts" from my American girlfriend two decades ago. I'm somewhat familiar with Commons as I haven't contributed since 2017 when I was in the Philippines last under the same username if you're interested in looking at my images. I did a photography course in 2012, it wasn't until 2016 when I bought my first Nikon DSLR 3400 camera, remembered the manual setting from the course. There's an GPS attachment I'm interested in on ebay, it is somewhere from America, the seller has given me a discount down to $55USD for it, factor in the currency exchange maybe $70 - $80 AUD? Maybe? Certainly cheaper than the original price it had! My main priority will probably try to get my energy back, not too concerned with what has happened above. Saw my lawyer this afternoon. He's going to do an appeal to stop the sale of the house, and possibly could end up renting the family home until my mother decides to leave the world for the man upstairs whenever that maybe! Over the next few days, my PlayStation 2 will get a workover since I have so much more time now. I'll certainly look into Commons again, maybe in a month or so. Starting to get some nice weather here and into summer soon. Adamdaley (talk) 06:21, 4 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I plan not to do any IP stuff. Honestly, at the moment, I really don't care what is happening on Wikipedia, trying to get my health back is my priority. Once that's done, maybe look into WikiCommons for a bit. I'm 50/50 with that at the moment, but the camera is near my desktop computer so if I feel I can find something to put on WikiCommons, you might see a new image of mine! Adamdaley (talk) 07:22, 4 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Adam, you really should stop using this talk page, you don't want your access revoked. I have posted a comment on your commons tp, and you can contact me there as well. You can also contact Mathglot. It would really be best to leave this page be for awhile. See you at commons! - wolf 07:22, 4 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Z Special Unit

Peacemaker67 - No one at MILHIST would mind if I did a Z Special Unit at the simplified English? Adamdaley (talk) 04:35, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Adam, if you have an account at the Simple Wikipedia, then you can edit anything there - within that project's policies & guidelines. You don't need to ask permission here first (and it's probably better that you don't.) - wolf 06:57, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I couldn't tell if simplified wikipedia had any wikiprojects. How can I tell? Adamdaley (talk) 07:54, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've left a link to the Simple Wikipedia's WikiProjects page on your user talk over there. Valereee (talk) 17:57, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Valereee - I've looked at both your comments. Surrounding my block, I was pretty sick. I've since become alot better since. I'm still unsure if I'll return in April. It might be at a later date. Adamdaley (talk) 21:50, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It's better any discussion take place at simple.wikipedia. Valereee (talk) 22:29, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Christmas...

It's almost Christmas 2022! I'm still around, just haven't logged into Wikipedia or the Simplified English version. Been doing my sport card collecting. Hopefully I'll get my cards back on December 21st which is destined to be back in my possession from Sydney. Haven't really given Wikipedia a whole thought. I keep track of some articles that have been added to the WP:MILHIST - Not too sure if I'll come back when I am due in April 2023. Yes, I loved Wikipedia, but as you know I've been, well, you know. Adamdaley (talk) 06:02, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hope you are doing well, Adam and that you have great holiday season. Cheers - wolf 06:28, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Not really. Going to be spending Christmas and New Year alone. I am not allowed to have my mother home for a few days since they think the house is not safe. But it's safe enough for me stay! Just trying to keep their own jobs instead of allowing mum have any happiness or time with me at such a special time of year. Adamdaley (talk) 22:38, 11 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Be as well as you can be, given the circumstances. Mathglot (talk) 09:39, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah Adam, I also wish you the best of luck with this whole situation... it sounds terrible, but hopefully things will start to turn around soon. (here is a list of quotes about facing adversity that you might find helpful) Take care - wolf 10:52, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm able to see my mother in her room. I've got a Christmas thing to attend today and on Christmas day. Things are still very stressful. There's this confectionery that mum would always buy me around Christmas. I was able to find some yesterday and she's keeping it for Christmas for us. Got 2 of them one of me and one for mum. It put a smile on her face. Got a Christmas cake which I think mum may have forgotten about so I'll surprise her on Christmas day with it. Adamdaley (talk) 22:39, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Happy New Year, Adamdaley!

Send New Year cheer by adding {{subst:Happy New Year fireworks}} to user talk pages.

Moops T 05:10, 2 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • 🎉Happy New Year to you and yours, Adam, from me and mine. I hope 2023 is good year for you, a year that will see your various travails IRL start to go your way, and also a year during which we will hopefully see you return to the project. Cheers!🥂 - wolf 07:14, 2 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I was up till about 4 am when it hit New Year. Could just header some fireworks going off where I am. Last few days, I've been wanting to come ask to come back to edit, but I tell myself, they'll just ban me again. I have kept track of the newer articles that have been accumulated since my ban. I estimate about 238 articles since my ban. Be another 476 by the time I come back. At least Moops appreciates those edits I did, among a few others users. Really, not thought about it much. I just remind myself, if I was allowed to be back, sh!t will just happen again and it certainly wouldn't be because of me, someone will complain. That's why I'm hesitant about coming back. What will happen? What "restrictions" will there be? Basically, if I had to count how many people complained, that would be more than the ones who have supported my edits. I'm disappointed that WP:MILHIST was not more supportive. Thought they'd have my back regardless since I've been there for a good period of time. I've worked out my financial sh!t for February 2023 onwards, looks like I'll be in debt at a fortnightly rate due to the current Government. It's either choose to feed myself or pay the bills. I basically have no choice in which. Can't do both. Adamdaley (talk) 08:50, 2 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Adam, I just wanted to chime in and add my best wishes for a Happy New Year as well. As far as asking to come back, if you recall the conditions under which you were blocked (see above; diff ), you shouldn't even try that before 3 April 2023; if you do, you'll probably be locked down even longer. The "indefinite" block does not mean "infinite" block, but ignoring the terms of your block and appealing before that date will probably lengthen your block, so don't do that. Instead, just concentrate on building your experience and clean track record at simple or commons. A brief comment here, as you did above, to respond to New Year's wishes is probably okay, but it would be best not to communicate here much before April. You're welcome to ping me (or Wolf, or whomever you like) from Simple or Commons if you want, and I'll respond there. All the best to you, Adam. Mathglot (talk) 23:00, 2 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

My ban is till when April 2? Then that would mean April 3 where I am. It amazes me that so many were supportive of my edits, but when when others disagree when I actually follow a WikiProject by its template on its page, I get banned. I'm saying that following a template or at least an updated one with WP:MILHIST has over the years I get banned. It's clear that Zawed has it out for me. Besides, who does he think he is? Superman? Just another regular user on Wikipedia. I have nothing to do with him, period. I may not add content to articles like others do ona regular basis, tried my best in cleaning up talkpages when there were not only errors but fixed WP Banners as well. It takes all types of people to make Wikipedia work, just when someone follows a template nobody likes people doing that! Doing that is illegal. Anyway, I may not have access to the internet so enjoy yourselves. Thanks Mathglot nice knowing you and Wolf. Adamdaley (talk)
I'm still undecided if I will return in April 2023. Got my financial impact starting February and in serious debt due to the NSW Government and fighting NCAT for my mother to return home. Adamdaley (talk) 04:39, 3 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) No, your "block" (not ban; that is something else) is indefinite, which means it doesn't have a specific end point, so it lasts until an admin lifts it, which could be any time, or never. By April, I was referring to the conditions of your block, which I linked above; or you can click "here"; see the part where it says, "You may appeal this after six months and not before"? That's what I meant about April, because 3 April is six months from the date of that message. But your block doesn't "expire" then; it stays until it is lifted. Your comments about other editors in your reply above are unfortunate, and will not help you. For your own sake, I strongly urge you to just shift your attention to simple:# or commons:# now, and stop responding here. Your welcome, and the feeling is mutual. If you feel a need to respond (you don't have to), then please do so from simple:User talk:Adamdaley. Take care, Mathglot (talk) 04:40, 3 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Same ol' shit. Either way, as I said, I have thought about it, but never formally asked. There is a difference. Since everyone wants to get down to specifics sure go ahead. Still followed a formal template. People can't change it to suit their own needs that'd be something amazing and doubt Wikipedia would allow it. Still followed it regardless and blocked for doing so. It just amazes me that the Wikipedia wants it a certain way and I did it that way now I get mixed messages that it shouldn't be followed. Adamdaley (talk) 05:01, 3 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Funny enough people can say shit about me, but yet when I say a funny comeback I don't care really it's frowned upon. Don't want to interact with him anyway. Hasn't made my life any better worse or for the better. Adamdaley (talk) 05:06, 3 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
