Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits to Bengali calendars, it appears that you have added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. Thank you. Yamaguchi先生 (talk) 20:42, 23 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Bhiwadi, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Additionally, please do not mark edits as "minor" when adding content to any Wikipedia article. This flag is reserved for actual minor changes, such as a spelling correction. Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Mayawati. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Removing large chunks of sourced content without explanation is disruptive. Welcome!

[edit]

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia:

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! [edit]

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions at Kashmir conflict. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to lose their editing privileges. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to result in loss of your editing privileges.

This page is under discretionary sanctions, and you can be blocked for WP:edit warring there. Kautilya3 (talk) 07:02, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

ARBIPA sanctions alert

[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Greece–India relations into Foreign relations of India. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was copied, attribution is not required. — Diannaa (talk) 13:44, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Image without license

[edit]

Unspecified source/license for File:Nonaligned movement.jpeg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Nonaligned movement.jpeg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|cc-by-sa-4.0}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: Once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 06:01, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Recent edit reversion

[edit]

In this edit here, I reverted some information that appears to be a violation of our copyright policy.

I provided a brief summary of the problem in the edit summary, which should be visible just below my name. You can also click on the "view history" tab in the article to see the recent history of the article. This should be an edit with my name, and a parenthetical comment explaining why your edit was reverted. If that information is not sufficient to explain the situation, please ask.

I do occasionally make mistakes. We get hundreds of reports of potential copyright violations every week, and sometimes there are false positives, for a variety of reasons. (Perhaps the material was moved from another Wikipedia article, or the material was properly licensed but the license information was not obvious, or the material is in the public domain but I didn't realize it was public domain, and there can be other situations generating a report to our Copy Patrol tool that turn out not to be actual copyright violations.) If you think my edit was mistaken, please politely let me know and I will investigate. S Philbrick(Talk) 12:39, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Control copyright icon Hello Asmitghosh3! Your additions to Architecture of India have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 19:50, 11 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm DaxServer. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Victoria Memorial, Kolkata, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. -- DaxServer (talk) 08:55, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright problem icon Your edit to Architecture of India has been removed in whole or in part, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. All such contributions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously, and persistent violators of our copyright policy will be blocked from editing. See Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources for more information. — Diannaa (talk) 12:40, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution (2nd request)

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Indo-Islamic architecture into Architecture of India. You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for violating copyright policy by copying text or images into Wikipedia from another source without evidence of permission. Please take this opportunity to ensure that you understand our copyright policy and our policies regarding how to use non-free content.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  — Diannaa (talk) 15:10, 1 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have blocked your account, because in spite of receiving three warnings, you have continued to add copyright material to Wikipedia in violation of our copyright policy. Request reason:

I have got myself well aware of Wikipedia copyright policy and the risk it pose to the project due to my mistake and negligence after repeated warnings. I am ready to come clean and ready to amend my mistake so not to put the project in a risk again. Asmitghosh3 (talk) 05:53, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Accept reason:

Answers to questions show a reasonably good understanding of copyright and how it applies to Wikipedia. — Diannaa (talk) 14:51, 12 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I am really sorry regarding the copyright issue. I read the copyright policy thoroughly and I am ready to amend my mistakes. I understand the copyright policy to not use material, pictures or any media form without approval of the original owner nor shall I use content from other Wikipedia editors without their consent. Nevertheless media which is not available under a suitable free license and which does not meet the non-free content criteria, wouldn't be used in future. I fully regret my decisions and inaction to revert those edit and cease doing the same even after multiple warnings. I also look forward for a clean and better performance as a Wikipedia editor alongside taking the responsibilities. I acknowledge, 'All creative works are copyrighted, by international agreement, unless either they fall into the public domain or their copyright is explicitly disclaimed'. I am willing to stop copy and pasting outside information without due permission to Wikipedia pages since it will put the whole project in a jeopardy.

I agree in order to do more, I will desist including information contents without copyright permission. In any case I come up with an article whose information can be added to a Wikipedia page, I shall- (a) Either ask for the permission of the owner of the article (b) Or shall seek information and put it in my words and attest the reference to that page in a way which does not cross but remains in the jurisdiction of Wikipedia copyright protocols.

If a chance is given I am ready to correct those mistakes. I understand my past actions could create legal liabilities and seriously hurt Wikipedia. I wish to continue to add more information, edit galleries and beautify the pages albeit without again getting into copyright issues. Hope to resolve the issue fruitfully. Thank you.Asmitghosh3 (talk) 05:53, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your statements about what to do when copying from one Wikipedia article to another are incorrect. Please read wp:Copying within Wikipedia and then tell me what you learn.— Diannaa (talk) 19:23, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry about not mentioning attributing to the page's history while copying from one page to other in my answer above. After being warned I had started to attribute to those pages as can be seen in my latest contributions. I had already started providing an edit summary about the information that is, the page from which the material has been taken and stating that content was copied with a link to the source. I hope to attribute the parent pages in case I copy from other Wikipedia pages. I also understand if the parent Wikipedia article contains information that breach copyright act and is copied to the child article, then the child article will also contain a copyright violation. Attributing the copy in the child article will help to identify when copyright breach has occurred and determine that the editor, or in this case I, who made the copy did so without knowledge that it was a breach of copyright. Asmitghosh3 (talk) 02:08, 12 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I am now unblocking your account. Any further violations of the copyright policy will result in another block. Thank you,— Diannaa (talk) 14:51, 12 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Architecture of India, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Alexander III. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
