Information icon Hello, I'm Doniago. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Danny Masterson‎, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! DonIago (talk) 19:44, 7 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

How does one cite a source in the mobile app subheader? There is no way to do so JMcElhaney10 (talk) 11:58, 12 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I don't use the mobile app, so I can't speak to usage questions about it, but nowhere in the article does it claim that Masterson is a "former" actor...indeed, that's currently a point of contention at the article's Talk page...and additionally, your edit would have violated WP:SD40 in any case. Happy editing! DonIago (talk) 12:53, 12 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The article states he is no longer active as of 2018, hence my edit. Seems like former to me but I am happy to defer to the talk page decisions on that. Those decisions had not been made at the time of the edit and the talk page discussion on it had not developed when I made the edit. I have not tried to re-implement the edit, so it feels like you are scolding me for the sake of scolding me. You admit you are unfamiliar with the mobile app anyways, so why bother? JMcElhaney10 (talk) 13:19, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm a little confused as to why you're asking why I'm bothering when you're the one continuing the discussion? But, in any case, you made a claim that Masterson is a former actor, something that was not explicitly stated by the article (the infobox notwithstanding), so I was well within my rights to remove your edit and request a source. The fact that you only added it to the short description is immaterial; the short description is a part of the article and subject to the same (in fact, more) policies and guidelines, and it shouldn't include anything that isn't verifiable within the article text itself. I'm not sure there's anything to be gained by further discussing this at this point? I think both our energies might be put to better use focusing on other matters? DonIago (talk) 15:34, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Then don't respond? You are on my page.
Again I have not refuted the change, just the continued scolding for a section you have admitted unfamiliarity with. I agree that you were right to make the change as it was not said explicitly in the text and the guides on the description say to avoid words like "former." I am not attempting or arguing to change it back. But you posted originally on my talk page saying I didn't cite a source, you cannot cite a source in the short description.
Rich of you to say there's nothing to be gained by furthering this point. I would say the same about you posting this discussion in the first place. JMcElhaney10 (talk) 10:57, 27 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
