User page

Hi Jimfbleak, I was wondering why your deleted my User:Janicelp page? I have been editing on Wikipedia since 2018 and am on the project leadership for the Women in Religion project. Please tell me what is wrong. I will reinstate my User page, so please do not delete it. Janice Leah Poss (talk) 23:51, 4 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Janice Leah Poss, see WP:NOTWEBHOST and Wikipedia:User pages. Your user page is for you to tell us about your activities on Wikipedia. It isn't there to host articles or draft articles, particularly when the draft exists elsewhere (and needs a lot of work!). You have yet another version in your sandbox, why is that? Jimfbleak - talk to me? 05:30, 5 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I understand, but when I click on my sandbox it goes to "User:Janicelp/sandbox" (?) Is there a way to fix this? I am not sure. I have no idea why it is doing that. Do you? Help!
Thanks,
Janicelp Janice Leah Poss (talk) 14:38, 5 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Janice Leah Poss this is why it's a bad idea to have two versions. I've made these changes to Draft:Ulrike E. Auga to fix multiple formatting and other errors. You should be working on that instead of a completely non-compliant sandbox version that will never be accepted as it stands Jimfbleak - talk to me? 14:50, 5 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I will look at what you've done and I am very grateful for your help! I'll keep in mind that working in Draft mode is the better way to go. That's new to me as we were always told to work on an article in our sandbox before submitting, I guess that's changed! Thanks! Janicelp (talk) 14:59, 5 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Janice Leah Poss, to expand on that, every heading in the sandbox version has at least three different formatting errors, the first two shouldn't even exist, and you have no wikilinks at all. Even if you knew what was required, you would just be repeating what I have already done in the draft version, and, I'd suggest, bullet point your lists as I've done with Monographs. isbn numbers for books are a good idea too Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:11, 5 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I can't see the sandbox version anymore. Are Wikilinks the blue links you've added? I just added the Protestant Church in Berlin(EKBO) because it has a en-Wikipage. I will add the ISBNs to the books and some of the Journals referenced should have ISBNs and the articles should have DOI numbers, but this will take me awhile to research. Now that this draft is on the WIR project draft page, will it live there while we fix all this? I hope so. Thanks again, Janicelp (talk) 15:27, 5 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Janice Leah Poss, drafts can stay as such for months, as long as there is progress, and then submitted for review when ready. The blue links are wikilinks, no rush Jimfbleak - talk to me? 18:07, 5 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, my team is helping me work on this today as we have a regular meeting. Janicelp (talk) 20:59, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome. I got some good secondary sources from our meeting. Probably work on this during the weekend. They can also help me if I get stuck on an issue. It'll take some time to refine this, but we'll get it done. Thanks, again. Janicelp (talk) 22:35, 12 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Janice Leah Poss I've nominated the image for deletion at commons. You are not the photographer, Elizaveta Dvorakk, or Dr Auga so you have no right to release the image to the public domain. No doubt you will claim that the copyright holder, presumably Dvorakk, gave you permission to use it, but we can't verify that Jimfbleak - talk to me? 13:08, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I understand, I thought if we named the photographer that would take care of the copyright issue, so sorry. Yes, delete it. I'll have to find a way to take a pic myself. Janicelp (talk) 17:21, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jim, I've got a TFA notice for you (and for LittleJerry, too). At WP:Unreviewed_featured_articles/2020/2004–2009, you both added your names after Velociraptor last year. I asked Z1720 to pick a few TFA reruns for October, and this was one of his selections. The article seems in good shape to me to run on October 30, and I trust your judgment, but let me know if you notice any significant problems. - Dank (push to talk) 02:55, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Dank:, thanks, I'll take a look Jimfbleak - talk to me? 08:10, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Jimfbleak, I was wondering why you deleted the page Isle of Light Music Festival? I noticed you deleted it in January this year. It was just meant to be an explanation of what the event is since there's no dedicated page for it on Wikipedia. What can I do to be able to create this page and not have it be deleted? Thank you. Isleoflightfest (talk) 13:05, 12 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Isleoflightfest What connection do you have to blocked account Isleoflight? Your username is not permitted, you will have no change it. Th previous version had no independent verifiable sources' to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the organisation, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the organisation claims or interviewing its management. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls. It was highly promotional in tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic, with verifiable facts, not opinions or reviews. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 13:15, 12 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

That's good enough. Thanks. 🔥YesI'mOnFire🔥(ContainThisEmber?) 15:03, 12 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Surprised that you put it as extended confirmed rather than semi. (I'm not complaining :) ) 🔥YesI'mOnFire🔥(ContainThisEmber?) 15:06, 12 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Digital Imaging and Communication for Nondestructive Evaluation

Hello Jim. I'm with the non-profit ASTM standards committee (E07.11) and a colleague of mine has been trying to work on an article that the committee had put together. I had tried previously and given up in frustration, and he is not at the same point. You deleted the article for "blatant copyright violations" when both 1. this article was marked as a source, and 2. the facts are the same and there is no verbiage copy/paste. Can you please indicate what it was that you found which consisted a copyright violation? I'm personally very confused as every editor has a completely unrelated opinion on what is wrong even when we follow the guidelines and utilize related published topic pages as a template.

Thank you. Pbrunnen (talk) 14:01, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Pbrunnen The reviewer, Dan arndt rejected the article as a copyright violation and I deleted on that basis. I suspect that we both used the same comparison tool to check, but as far as I know it won't work on deleted texts, so I can't give a figure for the similarity. It's not a matter whether the source is acknowledged, it's whether it has an explicit licence that allows us to use it here, essentially public domain or CC BY-SA 4.0, both of which allow copying, distribution and modification for any purpose, including commercial. The source text has no such waiver of rights Jimfbleak - talk to me? 16:12, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
