This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Quill (talk | contribs) at 01:27, 8 September 2008 (→‎AfD nomination of List of character actors: I don't see it that way, but not willing to fight about it.). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Please Note: I like to see conversation all in one place, so will usually respond here.

And I HATE beligerant junk on my page so I delete it. Yeah, I know, people might think I'm trying to hide negative comments but I don't care what people think. I'll reply and leave it for a while and when I get tired of the negative vibes I remove it.

Fortunately, most people leave nice stuff <VBG>

I also remove old stuff just because.

Way too long and I'm getting messages about it. Gone. Feel free to start again.

But PLEASE add notes to the BOTTOM of the list! Thanks.

Well, haven't been as active here as often, and see there are some changes at WP. Hmm...maybe I'll research some bots that clean pages and I love some of those wikiuser info boxes...Quill 04:40, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting

Just a heads up--reverting the Ratonero Bodeguero Andaluz page because the photo didn't look good also reverted all the perfectly fine other edits made at the same time. Tsk tsk! Also since the photo is mislabeled apparently I think I'll go ahead and put a note to that effect on the photo; that'll help (i hope) in the future. Elf | Talk 21:07, 10 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I was coming to that. I didn't know how to take out the image so I just reverted and was going to put back the cats. You're too fast for me Elf.Quill 21:11, 10 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK, sorry, I just saw that your talk page was blank and had to rush to put something on it.

OK, not really. Sorry I didn't think to wait to see what would happen next; when it's in front of me I just fix it and sometimes I'm too quick about that. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, to get rid of the image you just remove the image name from where it says "image". :-) Elf | Talk 22:52, 10 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hardy har har. You can defile the blank canvas of my talk page anytime. I have no objection to your jumping in and fixing stuff--just didn't want you to think I was a complete idiot! Quill 21:51, 11 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Only those of us with 1900 articles on our watchlists rate the official C.I. title. Elf | Talk 20:58, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You're sad. I just gave my watchlist a radical pruning. I'm down to a respectable 603. We'll see how long that lasts....Quill 21:42, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think mine is due for a radical blowtorching. Or I can just quit WP. Whenever I want. It has no control over me. Elf | Talk 23:40, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Canary Islands

I can't believe I did that! I'm just about dying of laughter over here after reading your edit summary. Elf | Talk 23:03, 23 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's easy to do, isn't it? Don't think I'm ever going to let you forget it: Canary Islands, located somewhere between Afghanistan and China--crack up every time I think of it! Quill 23:58, 23 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's nice to be remembered for *something*. Elf | Talk 00:31, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion to Merge!

Hello

Been a while, it has all been quiet on the western front. I fully appreciate Wikipedia's position regarding the proposed merge of the Koolie and Coolie page. You know the history of these two factions, there were more but they have closed up shop. The arguments that the Coolie group first presented for them still exist. 1. The Koolie is bred from pound dogs, untrue, there have been one recorded case by one individual breeder back in 2000 when the gene pool was small and breeders few. 2. The Koolie name, SA breeders put it in simple terms, they don’t write it, they just say it. The name as it has been explained in the Koolie section, has been totally accepted by registered Koolie breeders and the ANKC, simply for legal functions. The Koolie club in no way dictates to the general public or their members as to how the word should be spelt. 3. The American group do see their breed as an unrelated breed to the Koolie, while we continue to follow leads and learn more about the present and past of the Koolie in the only place you can learn more, in Australia. So please consider as I’m sure you are, of letting this slide for a while yet, the resulting information will be worthy of the standard the Wikipedia has set.Tjukurpa 23:57, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I noted that you were one of the founding members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Cat breeds. That project has seemed to go dormant lately, although my recent joining has reactivated it. I was wondering if you would think it might be a good idea to merge the two projects together. I acknowledge that the scope of the Wikipedia:WikiProject Cats is a lot broader than that of the cat breeds project, but it does at least seem to have gotten a fair amount of new members lately. Also, given its breadth, it could easily take on the duties of the Cat breeds project now that it has become dormant. I would be very interested in hearing from you on either project page whether you think the two projects should merge or not. Thank you for your attention. Badbilltucker 19:13, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think people just burn out over fighting with idiots. But I'll take a look. Quill 05:31, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure who the "idiots" you're referring to there are. Anyway, I hope I don't prove myself to number among them. Anyway, Here is a copy of the first newsletter of the Cats WikiProject, mentioning the proposed merger. I'm sending it out to all of the members of the Cat Breeds Project so that they can know a little about the group with which there is an existing merger proposal. We would welcome any and all comments about the project, and the newsletter, from members of both groups. Thank you for your attention. Badbilltucker 16:23, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, I don't think it should be deleted in that photos of dogs of this quality are NOT readily available free-for-all and it's a problem with many of the dog articles. More at the discussion page. Quill 05:31, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey fellow Wikipedian! Your username is listed on the WikiProject Films participants list, but we are unsure as to which editors are still active on the project. If you still consider yourself an active WP:FILM editor, please add your name to the Active Members list. You may also wish to add {{User WikiProject Films}} to your userpage, if you haven't done so already. We also have several task forces that you may be interested in joining as well.

Also, elections for Project Coordinators are currently in sign-up phase. If you would be interested in running, or would like to ask questions of the candidates, please take a look. You can see more information on the positions at Wikipedia:WikiProject Films/Coordinators. Thanks and happy editing!

Hola, Chica! I was just thinking it was about time I dropped you a line. I haven't been active in ages--other projects, need to earn a living, family life, blah, blah--but things are good!
How 'bout you--you back??
Quill 05:45, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No way! Need to earn a living, dog life, blah, blah--but I'm here, looking things up, all the time, and way too often there are edits on a page I'm reading that just CRY OUT to be edited and then I have to log in, and, well, we know where that goes. I'm gearing up for another stab at the USDAA agility national championships at the beginning of November, and then a couple months off wherein I *vow* I'll retrain those contact obstacles that are such a problem... Sure... in my copious spare time. Elf | Talk 01:42, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You sure Danielle Spencer (actress) is notable?

I was just wondering, because I was tempted to {{prod}} it (despite my slight inclusionist leanings). I only see one source, and that's IMDb.

Thx,

Okay, scratch Quark, I rather like him! Koolie merge mistake

Hi, I am not here to create problems but rather just to seek advice. I have not been regularly monitoring the Koolie page as I travel around Australia, collecting Koolie DNA, registering and recording them for the Koolie Club of Australia. I was quite disturb by the changes when I looked in tonight and hope you can help me. Wikipedia contacted me for the original information on the koolie and I was happy to contribute all information on the breed that was available at the time, I see very little if any has survived.

There is no mention of the original parent group nor do their continued efforts regarding the koolie breed. I apologies for not logging in but it seems that my registered name is no longer valid nor my password. I am Kerrie Challenger of the Koolie Club of Australia, known as Tjukurpa. My email is tjukurpa@pacific.net.au if any one wishes to confirm my identity.

This merge is a mistake and with the new breed Specifity test provided by Genetic Service Australia to the Koolie Club of Australia members new information will challenge everything that has been displayed. Proof of what is a true Koolie is now possible.

We have never argued the there were two breeds but have maintained that the German Coolie (which for the records is historically recorded as a German Collie) and the Australian Koolie are one breed. As explained in the original article on the Australian Koolie, an Australian wide consensus of the name Australian Koolie was adopted for the general legal functions of the parent club,(we do not dictate to people how to spell it.) We suggested that a second page be created for the German Coolie to stop vandalism and augments on the original information, we were not conceding that there were 2 breeds, we just wanted to get them off that page. When the merge was suggested we strongly advocated against it as their information was base on fabrications and misinformation, contribute by breeders for profit and puppy farmers.(notice I say this to you not blurb it all over in public.) as is there preference.

Once all testing has been completed by the Koolie club of Australia the test will be offered to the other groups, it has already been offered to their Coolie group and turned down, (now if they were so honest why turn down the opportunity to prove their case).

I know you can think this is a lot of bull, but Wikipedia is a strong face out there known for doing your best to present the facts. Just consider what I have said, all information on the net comes from me the original author, even most of that which comes through the club, even the stuff the German Coolie group try to sprout is from my original research and collecting.

I hope you can assist me and not just remove this as someone trying to create problems, I am very seriously trying to avoid them. Hi Kerrie, of course I know who you are.
I've not been keeping up lately; just too darned busy and too darned tired of the arguments.
I don't know how much (if any) of this has been resolved, but I will read up on it this week if I can and do my best to help sort things out, to the extent that it is sortable.
I understand that you are frustrated and I also understand that it discouraging to see all one's work undone.
My only interest at Project Dogs has been to build a reliable, accurate, unbiased information source.

Breed standards

G'day Quill. I don't know if you've been watching the Breed standards page or not, but I have proposed a more general use of the page so that all domesticated animal breed pages can reference it, not just dog pages. This is necessary as all articles on domesticated animal breeds need to refer to a breed standard. I've proposed that the article pertaining directly to the breed standards for dogs be changed to Breed standard (Dogs). Sting_au | Talk 22:36, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sting_au. No, I haven't been visiting very much, but I'll certainly take a look. Just on the surface of it, what you are proposing sounds right to me. Quill (talk) 21:59, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've just noticed this page up at AfD. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Native American Indian Dog. I figured it might be a good idea for some of the Dog breed editors to take a look. WikiProject Theatre March 2008 Newsletter

The WikiProject Theatre Newsletter (March 2008)
The WikiProject Theatre Newsletter!
Issue 1 - March, 2008

Hello and welcome to this, the first ever edition of the WikiProject Theatre Newsletter! If you haven't been over to the WikiProject page lately then you're missing out - the whole thing has undergone a complete makeover - see below for more info!
On top of this, we have brand spanking new templates (such as this one) and a completely revamped Collaboration of the Month - again, see below for more info on all of this.
Finally, a warning - the new-look WikiProject is still having the finishing touches put on it. If you find something that doesn't work, you don't agree with or is just plain missing, please don't hesitate to let us know on the WikiProject's talk page. We'll try our very best to fix ASAP!

New Look

As mentioned above, the WikiProject has recently undergone a spring-clean and we're dead excited about it! If you don't mind - we'd like to take this opportunity to explain some of the features and generally show off about it a little.

  • Colour scheme Those clashing colours have gone! All pages on the WikiProject now use two consistent shades of blue as part of the new streamlined interface (Those techies amongst us may wish to know that the precise names of the colours we use are: "lightsteelblue" for headings and "#c0e0e0" for backgrounds).
  • Navigation Menu Every page on the WikiProject now has the official WikiProject navigation menu so you can easily flick between pages and get back to the main project page. Say goodbye to clicking the back button several times!
  • To Do list/Open Tasks If you're stuck on what to do to help us then a list of the most important tasks is now available on the main page - no more excuses! At the moment, the list is looking a little short so if you have found something that you think ought to be added, then feel free to edit the list and let us know. Please refrain from linking to a specific article that generally needs an overall update. Single articles like this should be nominated for a future Collaboration of The Month - see below.
  • Article Structure This is a first for the WikiProject and is still under construction. What is the Article Structure page? Well, it's basically a rough guideline of sections to include when creating theatre-related articles - in particular, plays. As the scope of this WikiProject is so large, some sections of the Article Structure won't apply to all articles and other sections which will apply to a small cross-section of our article base have not been included in this Article Structure page. If you feel we have missed out something crucial which needs adding to most or all theatre-related articles then feel free to discuss it on either the Article Structure talk page or the main WikiProject talk page
Templates

All of the project's templates are now arranged in one handy page. Whilst we were going through we also noticed some that were missing. We have now added new templates in the form of:

  • {{WPTWelcome}} - a welcome tag to be placed on the talk page of a new user.
  • {{User WPTheatre}} - a userbox for members of the project.
  • {{Wikipedia:WikiProject Theatre/Sidebar}} - this template should be added to the side of any/all pages within the project to help navigate between project pages.
  • {{WPTheatre User}} - the template containing the latest edition of the WikiProject Newsletter (you're looking at it now!)
Collaboration of the Month

Ok, so this isn't exactly a new feature. It's always been there but has never really been updated on a, ahem, monthly basis (the clue is in the title!). The Collaboration of the Month (COTM) is now in template form to enable it to be streamlined across the Project, without having to be manually updated on each page. Don't worry if we've lost you at this point - the point is, it works! You can now nominate an article for COTM on the COTM page and we promise to adhere to it this time! It will be updated monthly! The more sharp-eyed amongst you may well have noticed that the COTM at the moment is still that old fella, August Strindberg. That's because no-one has nominated a COTM for this month (being a new feature an' all...) so we've decided to leave it as it is for this month until a new one has been democratically voted for.

And finally...

Thanks very much for reading down this far - hopefully future newsletters won't be this long! Please, if you can, invite new members and drop us a line over at the talk page to let us know what you think of the new look/newsletter and any suggestions you may have.

WikiProject Theatre April 2008 Newsletter

The WikiProject Theatre Newsletter (April 2008)
The WikiProject Theatre Newsletter!
Issue 2 - April, 2008

Welcome to the second edition of the WikiProject Theatre Newsletter. This month's newsletter is focused mainly on recruitment and generally upping the profile of the WikiProject. Read on to find out more...

Recruitment

Just in case you haven't had a chance to head on over to our new-look WikiProject yet, this is to let you know that on the Templates page there is now a new "Welcome banner" which is to be placed on any new members talk pages. However, it is yet to be used as we haven't had any new members join the WikiProject within the last month! If you know of a user which has been contributing to theatre-related articles recently then why not drop them a line on their talk page and invite them to come and join us? That way, we can finally use thour lovely shiny new Welcome banner template. We hope eventually to be able to use this newsletter to show off about the vast numbers of new members we have joining us each month, rather in the way that the newsletters of other WikiProjects do.

Collaboration of The Month

This month's COTM has remained unchanged as no-one has nominated any articles to become the new incumbent. Quick - get yourself down to the COTM page and nominate an article for next month!

Assessment

Just a note to say that there are two articles down at the Assessment page which have requested assessment. Please could a member of the project pop over and assess them for us? It's only a small task.

Whilst we're on the subject of assessment, an ongoing task is to assess every article within Category:Unassessed Theatre articles, feel free to make a start on a few when you have a moment.

And finally...

Don't forget to add the WikiProject Theatre userbox to your userpage to spread the word about the project!

We're currently looking for members to volunteer in the compiling of this newsletter each month - please drop us a line at the talk page if you're interested in helping - be it in the delivery or writing processes of it!

You have received this newsletter because your name is on the list of Participants on the WikiProject page. If this information is out of date and you no longer wish to receive the newsletter, please remove your name from the Participants list and also click here to stop receiving the newsletter.

To stop receiving this newsletter, or to receive it in a different format, please let us know here.

If you have any news or any announcements to be broadcast, do let us know on the talk page.

You are cordially invited to participate in WikiProject Christianity

The goal of WikiProject Christianity is to improve the quality and quantity of information about Christianity available on Wikipedia. WP:X as a group does not prefer any particular tradition or denominination of Christianity, but prefers that all Christian traditions are fairly and accurately represented.

WikiProject Theatre May 2008 Newsletter

The WikiProject Theatre Newsletter (May 2008)
The WikiProject Theatre Newsletter!
Issue 3 - May, 2008

Welcome to our third newsletter - we've got lots to get through this month so without further ado, let's crack on...

The Big Debate - Character Lists in Play Articles

For those of you who haven't headed over to our talk page recently - you've been missing out! Throughout the past month there's been great discussion about the issue of character lists in play articles. The aim is to form a standard presentation of character lists to be used on all play articles so if you'd like to make your voice heard on the issue then check out the talk page now.

Collaboration of The Month

Yet again this month's COTM has remained unchanged as no-one has nominated any articles to become the new incumbent. Quick - get yourself down to the COTM page and nominate an article for next month!

Assessment

The number of articles at the Assessment page are growing - if you're feeling a little lost and don't know where to begin to help us out, head on down to the Assessment page and give us a hand.

New members

The past month has seen Dereksmootz, Duckie for broadway, Dozenthey, Fewster, Nrswanson, Kleinzach and Broadweighbabe join us - welcome to you all! It's wonderful to see such a large influx of new members.

If you've been editing a theatre-related article recently and noticed another user helping you who also appears to have an interest for the subject of theatre, why not drop them a line and invite them over to the project?

HELP!

We're crying out for people to help us out wherever possible. We are currently looking for members to volunteer to give us a hand in several areas. If you can do any of the following, please drop us a line at the talk page:

  • Newsletter Editor(s) - Always fancied yourself as a bit of a journalist? Perhaps you could help us write this newsletter - it doesn't take long to compile. Maybe you'd like to help but can't commit on a regular basis? In that case, why not rally round a few other members of the project to help you out and take it in turns each month to compose the newsletter?
  • Mailmen/women - If writing the newsletter isn't your bag then maybe you could help in the distribution of this fine document? As our membership grows it becomes quite laborious to send it to everyone. It's only a quick task that needs doing once a month, and really is just a case of copying and pasting a template onto our members talk pages.
  • Portal editor(s) - It's come to our attention that the Theatre Portal hasn't been updated in a long time and we'd like to get someone, or a group of people to take charge of it and get it up to the standard of some of the great portals out there (e.g. the Comedy Portal, the Solar System Portal etc).
And finally...

Don't forget to add the WikiProject Theatre userbox to your userpage to spread the word about the project!

Yet again this month's COTM has remained unchanged as no-one has nominated any articles to become the new incumbent. Please can someone get down to the COTM page and nominate an article for next month!

The ongoing task of assesing the articles at the Assessment page continues - if you're feeling a little lost and don't know where to begin to help us out, head on down to the Assessment page and give us a hand.

New members

The past month has seen Canadian Scouter, Carole Higgins, Gonzalo84 and Kiwiboy121 join us - welcome to you all!

still room

Hi, not sure what you mean with "lain" and "laid up" and the quotation marks here: Breakfast trays were (lain) "laid up" in the still room. --Espoo (talk) 07:57, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of List of character actors

I have nominated List of character actors, an article you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of character actors. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. — TAnthonyTalk 02:37, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi--taking a look, but not willing to fight over such things. Thanks for letting me know, though. Quill (talk) 01:27, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
