WikiCup 2016 is just around the corner...

Hello everyone, and we would like to wish you all a happy holiday season. As you will probably already know, the 2016 WikiCup begins in the new year; there is still time to sign up. There are some changes we'd like to announce before the competition begins.

After two years of serving as WikiCup judge, User:Miyagawa has stepped down as judge. He deserves great thanks and recognition for his dedication and hard work, and for providing necessary transition for a new group of judges in last year's Cup. Joining Christine (User:Figureskatingfan) and Jason (User:Sturmvogel 66) is Andrew (User:Godot13), a very successful WikiCup competitor and expert in Featured Pictures; he won the two previous competitions. This is a strong judging team, and we anticipate lots of enjoyment and good work coming from our 2016 competitors.

We would also like to announce one change in how this year's WikiCup will be run. In the spirit of sportsmanship, Godot13 and Cwmhiraeth have chosen to limit their participation. See here for the announcement and a complete explanation of why. They and the judges feel that it will make for a more exciting, enjoyable, and productive competition.

The discussions/polls concerning the next competition's rules will be closed soon, and rules changes will be made clear on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring and talk pages. The judges are committed to not repeating the confusion that occurred last year and to ensuring that the new rules are both fair and in the best interests of the competition, which is, first and foremost, about improving Wikipedia.

If you have any questions or concerns, the judges can be reached on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, on their talk pages, or by email. We hope you will all join us in trying to make the 2015 WikiCup the most productive and enjoyable yet. You are receiving this message because you are listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Ajay Devgan filmography

Hey, I hope you are aware that its currently at the FLC stage. Since, you have been involved with this list and provided ref's for the table, are you willing to add yourself as a co-nom or make some improvements? Otherwise, the current version of this list is not suitable for a FL. Yashthepunisher (talk) 14:03, 6 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that the current version isn't suitable for FL status but I won't be able to take part in the discussion right now. I think that my name should have been added as co-nominator as I had prepared the whole list and added sources. --Skr15081997 (talk) 09:50, 7 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I have raised this issue at the FLC, but the nominator didn't took it seriously. There is a high chance of it to fail for now, then you can resume your work whenever you want to. Also you have 2 other list's that are nearly ready for a FLC: Warsi and Douglas one's. Yashthepunisher (talk) 11:20, 7 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yashthepunisher, I have nominated Warsi's list for FLC.--Skr15081997 (talk) 11:23, 8 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

WikiCup 2016: Game On!

We are about to enter the second week of the 2016 WikiCup. The most recent player to sign up brings the current total to 101 contestants. Signups close on 5 February. If you’re interested, you can join this year's WikiCup here.

We are aware that in some areas the scoring bot’s numbers are a little bit off (i.e., overly generous) and are working to have that corrected as soon as possible.--MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:03, 7 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Yo Yo Honey Singh, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Vulgar (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Ajay Devgan filmography FL nomination discussion

Hi. This message is for informing you about the delayed discussion going on at Ajay Devgan filmography FL nominations. Even on your behalf, i had nominated the page and still on process. As per Yash, being a newbie before nomination i had to consult you for this. Review process still has been at a halt where i am working on the article as far as i can. Needed ping from you side on this matter. SuperHero👊 08:34, 27 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@D'SuperHero: there isn't much I can do here. I have been a major contributor to the list, so won't take part in the review page. Since you nominated it 2 months ago, there's 1 oppose and no support. I don't think the list would be promoted to FL status in the first attempt. --Skr15081997 (talk) 08:43, 27 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Skr15081997 Thanks. Needs more work : SuperHero👊 09:56, 27 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Natasha Bobo

Hello. Thank you for the message on my talk page. My response is that there is no reason to delete the article Natasha Bobo. Natasha Bobo is a real person about whom information may be sought. If the only verifiable information about her pertains to her acting in one sitcom, then the logical place to look for information about her is in the article on that sitcom, and so her article should be redirected to the article for the sitcom (as it was, when I last checked). Redirects can be made without administrator privileges, and so can be performed without discussion.

I feel it worth adding that number of credits that a person has is irrelevant; the only criterion relevant to the suitability for inclusion of information in Wikipedia is its verifiability using publicly available secondary sources, while the question of the existence of an individual article is purely a question of how best to organise the information (which can be resolved using the normal editing process). -- Oliver P. (talk) 13:43, 30 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

User:Oliver Pereira, its best not to create article on an actor with only 1 work to their credit, unless they are very significant enough. Thanks, --Skr15081997 (talk) 09:34, 1 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
No, Skr15081997: it's best to have articles or redirects for every name of every subject that has information in Wikipedia. That way, if a link exists or is created containing the name of the subject in question, it will come up blue, and clicking on it will take users to where they can find information on that subject. It's a simple matter of being helpful to the users and editors who might allude to the subject. Thank you for your consideration. -- Oliver P. (talk) 22:30, 18 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
