Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Sign your messages with four tildes (~~~~), be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Information icon Hello, I'm Anaxial. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to List of people from Odisha have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse. Thanks. Anaxial (talk) 07:15, 15 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

One click typo introduction

[edit]

Your edit here changed hydromatic to hydromantic. In this case, hydromatic is correct - it was a trade name use by de Havilland for some of its propellers. Obviously the tool you are using isn't perfect.Nigel Ish (talk) 08:24, 15 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Non-typos

[edit]

Hi Spburstein506! I have reverted several of your intended typo fixed in cases where it clearly wasn't a typo, but non-English material. We try our best to lang-tag non-English material in linguistic articles, but very often the data is not tagged. So please look carefully at the context of a suspected typo before altering the content. Thank you! –Austronesier (talk) 10:04, 15 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I’d like to add that you should always preview the changes you make with a script. The responsibility is on you to do it. Was there no need for human input, they would simply be performed by a bot. Cheers! MichaelTheSlav (talk) 11:00, 15 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Stop

[edit]

Hi Spburstein506. You appear to be running an automated process/script on your account. This script is making a lot of errors, and is causing disruption to the project. I recommend familiarizing yourself with Wikipedia:Bot policy, and seeking approval if you wish to continue using this script. Please be advised that if you continue running this script you will be blocked from editing. Thanks, FASTILY 03:06, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Spburstein506 has already stopped: the edits concerned occurred in a 20-minute interval on 14 May and used the tool Wikipedia:Correct typos in one click, and haven't been repeated after that. Spburstein506, almost all of the suggestions so far made by this tool to you have been wrong. But you're probably already aware of that by now. Of course you're not going to get blocked: you're obviously not going to repeat that mistake. It's not a particularly uncommon one either, it's just that the scripts make it easier to repeat it at scale. – Uanfala (talk) 12:04, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. I would like to apologize for this mistake. I was unaware of the errors with the bot and implications of using it. Thank you for notifying me and I will make sure to be significantly more careful next time. Spburstein506 (talk) 16:31, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
