Vulcan (German: Wolkendorf, Hungarian: Szászvolkány) is a commune in the Braşov County in the centre of Romania, 16 km west of the county capital Braşov.

Since its founding around the year 1377 it was one of the most important villages in the Burzenland area, where there was a strong Transylvanian Saxon community.

According to 2002 census, the commune had a population of about 5,200 inhabitants, by then consisting of three villages:

  • the main village of Vulcan
  • Holbav
  • Colonia 1 Mai

On February 12, 2004, the Holbav village became itself a separate commune.
