Vendetta Red

Vendetta Red was a rock band from Seattle, Washington. They had four studio albums. The band broke up in 2006, and most of the members have joined other bands.

Biography

The band started in 1998 after Zach Davidson was in a band called Plebian Cry. The original band members were Erik Chapman, Joseph Childres, Adam Garcia, and Zach Davidson. Later members included Seth Matheson, Nat Sohlstrom, Justin Cronk, Michael Vermillion, Leif Andersen, Jeff Rouse and Burke Thomas. While some of the members are natives of Bakersfield, California, the band formed in Seattle, Washington.

In 1999, Vendetta Red self-released the 6 Kisses, A Blatant Reminder of Why We Are Alive EP and toured the West Coast. A year later, they issued their debut album Blackout Analysis on the small Red-Button Records. White Knuckled Substance appeared in November 2001, courtesy of Loveless Records, and was well-received on local radio.

Epic Records offered Vendetta Red a record deal in early 2002. After testing the waters with a 4 song EP entitled Cut Your Noose, the band members headed into the studio with producer Jerry Finn later that year to record a third album. Between the Never and the Now was released in June 2003, and the band supported it with a lengthy North American tour, which included a stint on that summer's Warped Tour.

Leif Andersen joined the band in 2005, after having been a long time friend of Burke. Leif and other members of his previous band, Common Heroes, were frequently the live backup band for Burke's side project, Pris.

In 2005, Vendetta Red recorded their final album entitled Sisters of the Red Death.

Breakup

Vendetta Red announced through MySpace on March 8, 2006 that they were going separate ways to create different styles of music. Zach later made the following statement:

"A few good things happened to us, a lot of bad things happened to us. A lot of people wanted to kill us. We were always outsiders. We were always alone, and after a 7 year legacy of struggle and torment we now have to posthumously defend the ghost of a band that meant everything to me. Regardless we always told the truth even if it meant alienating ourselves from everyone, and I continue to do so. If you would like to know more write me at myspace.com/sirenssister and I will try to answer any questions you might have. I don't have any idea who runs the Vendetta Red website, thanks friends. Zach D."

Vendetta Red was best known for their vivacious live performance such as their final, sold-out show, which played on April 8, 2006 at El Corazon in Seattle, Washington. They ended their set with "A Joyless Euphoria."

Post-breakup

Sirens Sister is the current musical incarnation of Zach Davidson and Leif Anderson. Burke has a side project, Pris and is in the band The Treatment. Burke is also in a band called Megasapien that also features Lian Light of Magneto. Long Distance Runner is another project including former Vendetta Red members Justin Cronk and Joseph Childres.

Zach, Leif and Jeff have begun a new band, Sirens Sister, and on September 12th, 2006, they released their debut album, Echoes From The Ocean Floor on The Control Group. However, Jeff has since left the band on good terms. The new bassist, Levi Andersen, Leif's brother, was also in the Treatment.

Vermillion has been enjoying a solo career now playing his own folk and American roots songs as well as covering many classic but perhaps lesser-known American country artists such as Townes Van Zandt, Merle Haggard and Jim Croce. He plays shows frequently in the Seattle area and also DJs under the name "Sad Bastard" usually spinning country, motown, folk and soul. His first official full-length solo album will be released May 21st 2008[1]

Justin is now playing drums for With Friends Like These[2]. In addition to Justin the band consists of fellow Bakersfield native Matthew Shaw and Andy Fitts of "Airport Cathedral".

Eric Chapman has been enjoying life outside of the music industry as a bar tender at a Seattle area up-scale bar. He was married in 2006 to girlfriend Andrea and they currently reside in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle.

Their song 'Silhouette Serenade' is featured in the video game Saint's Row.

Joseph Childres is now playing for The EX Box Boys.
