W.W. Samuell High School (Dallas) From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search Samuell High School is a public secondary school (grades 9-12) in the Pleasant Grove Community area of Dallas, Texas.

Dallas ISD annexed Pleasant GroveISD in 1955, and Pleasant Grove High School was replaced by Samuell High School on the same year. The mascot is the Spartan. The school colors are Blue and Gold. The Alma Matter is "Hail Samuell High, Hail Samuell High", written in (1955), by then school music teacher. The school has only won one athletic state title. The 1962 Spartan Baseball Team won the title while competing in Division 2AA.

Community schools are Fred F. Florence Junior High (7-9 Grades), Pleasant Grove Elementary and John Runyon Elementary. Its main high School rivals are Skyline High and H.Grady Spruce High.


Dr. W.W. Samuell was a wealthy individual who before his death donated millions of dollars to the City of Dallas Parks and Recreation. There are now over 5 Samuell Parks in the Dallas area, including a high school, a Boulevard a 2 streets in bordering cities. Dr. W. W. Samuell purchased the first ambulance for the City of Dallas in 1911.
