Wafa Telecom(Arabic: وفا تيليكوم) is the third mobile operator in Syria. The other two being Syriatel and MTN Syria.

They were granted mobile license in 2022.[1]

They have the exclusive rights to operate 5G. And they were the first operator to test it in Syria.[2][3]

History

According to Syrian Official Gazette, Wafa was established as a company in 2017 with a stated capital of 10 billion Syrian Pounds (SYP).[4]

Ownership

Reuters reported that Influential businessmen with close ties to government officials are key investors in the company are the owners[1]

7al reproted that it could be linked to Asmaa al assad. [4][5]

According to an OOCRP investigation revealed a connection between Wafa and Iranian revolutionary guard. Through a malayasian company directly owned by IRGC.[6]
