To professors interested in joining the Wikipedia Education Program, please note that each participant (professor/ambassador) must complete an orientation and some other steps to officially be a part of the program. If you are interested in joining the program and hearing more about those requirements and the process, please email Jami Mathewson at jmathewsonwikimedia.org.
Participation Requirements, New for 2012
As you create your Course Page, please keep in mind the new participation requirements, as of 2012. In order to remain a part of the Wikipedia Education Program, professors must also create and update a Course Page, complete with students' usernames, by February 17, 2012. You will find more information in your Welcome Packets you will receive via snail mail. The information in these course pages helps us track student contributions and the effectiveness of the Wikipedia Education Program. Note: we do not track any information about the students but do compile data based on the articles students edit.
Add a course
You can create a new course page using the course page wizard. In the box below, replace "Intro to Wikipedia (Jimmy Wales)" with the name you'd like for your course page (which should begin with "Wikipedia:United States Education Program/Courses/") and your name in parentheses. (Note: Do not use apostrophes in the course title.) Then click "start this course page", which will load a course page wizard for you begin building a custom course page to your liking. Once your course page is ready, add it to the list above or contact a Wikipedia Ambassador to list it for you.
To add an entry to this table, use the following code, entering in the appropriate details: the college or university, the full course page (e.g., "Wikipedia:United States Education Project/Courses/World History (Joe Smith)"), the course title (e.g., "World History"), the instructor's name, the estimated number of students, and (optionally) the file name of a relevant photo to represent the class or university:
