Summary

Description
English: A photograph of a 1966-1970 GMC H6500 school bus with a Thomas Built Saf-T-Liner (conventional) body. This retired school bus is in use as a farm truck. From 1966 to 1970, GMC used a separate chassis from Chevrolet for school bus production, shifting to the heavy-duty H-series (the predecessor of the GMC Brigadier) instead of the medium-duty C-series. Along with GMC engines, the H6500 was offered with a 6V53 Detroit Diesel V6. For 1971, GMC shifted to the medium-duty C-series it offered with Chevrolet, with both divisions producing it through 1991.
