M. R. Mathias is an American author. His works include The Wardstone Trilogy,[2] the Dragoneer Saga,[3] The Legend of Vanx Malic fantasy adventure series, and the Crimzon & Clover Short Story Series. He also wrote the four-book Fantastica series and the Dragon Racers series.
Biography
[edit]Michael Robb Mathias was born July 20, 1969 in the outskirts of Oklahoma City. He graduated from high school in 1987 and received a scholarship to study creative writing at East Central University in Oklahoma.[4] He then went on to study creative writing at the University of Oklahoma.[5]
After college, he worked in the steel industry, for TG Steel and DPR Construction.[6] From 2000-2004, he participated in the building of the Alliance Parkway.[7]
Writing
[edit]Mathias wrote several novels in longhand while incarcerated in a Texas prison for drug possession.[8][9]
After his release, he moved to Houma, Louisiana, to care for his grandmother.[10] He then entered his handwritten novels into a word processor and began writing The Dragoneer Saga.[11] After his grandmother's death, he moved back to Oklahoma to assist his mother with cancer treatments.[12]
In 2010, The Royal Dragoneers, the first book of The Dragoneer Saga, was nominated for the Locus Poll Award.[13] Blood and Royalty, the sixth book of the series, was released on December 21, 2014.[14]
Mathias released the four-book Fantastica series in late 2017.[15] He began releasing books from his Dragon Racers series in 2018.[16]
