He is one of the most well known musical figures in North East India in recent times especially for founding the Shillong Chamber Choir which shot to fame after winning India's Got Talent 2 in 2010. He was trained at the Guild Hall School of Music, London and the Trinity School of Music, London. His main mentor was the Viennese pianist Katharina Wolpe who is the daughter of the composer Stephan Wolpe. He has also written an opera in his native language Khasi called Sohlyngem which is based on a folktale about a girl who turns into a bird. He was given the highest state award, 'The Tirot Singh Award' by the Govt. of Meghalaya in 2010.
