[edit]Description
[edit]This article would cover all Fife-related articles such as places, famous people, museums, football and rugby clubs and churches to name a few. Examples would be: Kirkcaldy, Andrew Carnegie, Adam Smith, Dunfermline Abbey, Dunfermline Athletic, The Old Course and Kirkcaldy Museum and Art Gallery. This could also help support articles that really do need a lot of work while keeping general maintenance. Examples would be: Methil, Dunfermline, Cupar and a lot of the smaller towns such as Kennoway and Lower Largo. Please see the discussion at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Council/Proposals#Wikiproject_WikiProject_Fife. Kilnburn (talk) 16:26, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
The nickname
[edit]Could you tell me what the "Pars" mean? Anything to do with golf? Everton 23:56, 21 August 2005 (UTC)
- It seems like the origins of the nickname are unclear. There are a few explanations listed here on the clubs official website. Forbsey 11:39, 22 August 2005 (UTC)
Record defeatt
[edit]Inserted Dunfermline's actual record defeat, the 17-2 Midland League loss to Clackmannan. Official records seem to give it as 10-0 to Dundee, and 11-1 to Hibs, but these official records for any club seem to only take into account Scottish League, Scottish Cup, League Cup and European games. 17-2 to Clackmannan is pretty shocking for a club that can beat Valencia 6-2!
Another case in point, Stranraer's official record win seems to be 7-0 v. Brechin, but they've had many more bigger wins when they played Southern Counties League and Qualifying Cup football. Keeno 21:11, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
Famous players
[edit]I've removed Ian McParland from this section as he was merely a squad player for the club (only 16 league appearances). I don't think being appointed manager of an English League One club about 15 years later qualifies him as significant in a Dunfermline context either! -- Jellyman 09:07, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
Falkirk
[edit]Is Falkirk the local rival of DAFC? Everton 14:22, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
Falkirk are by far the club's biggest rivals. falkirk are by far the better club and matches between the two are highly charged affairs. the fans do actually hate each other but everyone hates the pars as the are clearly scum. airdrieonians when they existed and to a smaller extent raith rovers are other major rivals and with stokes r un stoble
New section?
[edit]As Dunfermline have recently been relegated it seems appropriate to start a new section under the "2000-2007" section about their exploits in the First Division and the UEFA Cup. Anyone else think this is justifiable? -- Exxy 21:10, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
