Hiei and Yukina

[edit]

How can she be his twin sister if they have different mothers? Isthis a confliction of the manga and anime? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.168.76.153 (talk) 00:11, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is later stated that Hiei is lying when he says that they have different mothers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.65.157.75 (talk) 04:29, 24 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Character names

[edit]

Both Jin and Toya are given full names in the series , Kazetsukai Jin and Mashotsuki Toya, but the article only has their shorted names. I'm going to add the full names if there are no objections. BethEnd 16:03, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

When were these names stated? Artist Formerly Known As Whocares (talk) 20:45, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Beth - Those are epithets, not full names. The Kaze... is meaning "of the Wind" - something like that. WhisperToMe (talk) 17:24, 7 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Manga-only characters

[edit]

Would it be appropriate to put manga-only characters in a seperate section? It really only applies for the Spirit Detective Saga, so it could just be slotted in underneath as a sub-section. HS Yuna 13:22, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No. Those characters were minor characters who had no major role on the plot, and they would only be important if you were a fan of the series (as such, they are fancruft). Following Naruto and Bleach (manga), we should only list important characters. Artist Formerly Known As Whocares (talk) 18:53, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Founder

[edit]

Quick Question: (first time posting BTW) In the Character description section it says Sakyo N. is the founder of the Black Black Club but in Episode 25 it clearly states that that Gonzo Tarukane created it. Quote from one of the member of the BBC during that episode "Well I know that you founded the BBC however I'm afraid we can't associate with poor men" this was said after losing the bet between the Toguro Brothers and Yusuke/Kuwabara. BBC

[edit]

About the meaning of this, do we follow the manga or the anime? Because, it was stated in the original managa as Black Book Club (Why the anime changed it is anyone's guess)60.50.50.94 (talk) 12:34, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am very sure that the manga uses Black Black Club. Never was the word book used in the original version. MythSearchertalk 10:09, 27 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, chapter 47 of the manga is actually titled 'The Black Book Club'.--SoWhatBigDeal (talk) 23:00, 18 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Character listings

[edit]

There seem to be some issues regarding character listings, at least in standardization. First of all, the order of the main characters in this article and the main article are different. The main article listing orders them as Yusuke, Kuwabara, Keiko, Koenma, Botan, Hiei, Kurama, Genkai, Yukina. This article orders them as Yusuke, Keiko, Botan, Koenma, Kuwabara, Kurama, Hiei, Genkai, Yukina.

Neither of these listings make a whole lot of sense. They aren't in any clear order. They're clearly not alphabetical (which is good, they shouldn't be), but they don't have any other clear order, either. They're not in order of importance (in which case the top 4 would certainly be Yusuke, Kuwabara, Kurama and Hiei, followed by Genkai, Botan, and Koenma), nor are they in order of appearance. (The main article lists Kuwabara ahead of Keiko and Koenma ahead of Botan, while this one lists Botan and Konema ahead of Kuwabara).

Personally, I think it should be by importance. It just makes more sense to list Yusuke, Kuwabara, Kurama and Hiei first. But ordering by first appearance would also work. Either way, there should be a standard that is kept to between the two pages.

I also wonder why Yukina is listed under main characters, but Shizuru is listed under allies. Neither are especially major, but I'd argue that Shizuru is more important. She shows up earlier (much earlier in the manga), shows up more frequently, and has a greater effect on the overall plot. I think Yukina should probably be moved to Allies, because I don't think I'd call either her or Shizuru 'Main Characters'.Kuwabaratheman (talk) 21:02, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Order of Importance" is only "Order of Opinion", as, besides Yusuke being most important for being the protagonist, the others are merely however the editor(s) want them to be, and whose more/less important can't be proven. They are (as of my edit a minute ago) in order of appearance, which seems the most logical of the three you listed. As for the Kurama/Hiei question, because they were first shown in the same panel, Kurama's character was explained two panels before Hiei, so he comes first. As for the Yukina/Shizuru thing you mentioned, Shizuru is only a minor character who doesn't do much besides be there, while Yukina constantly affects the plot of the series and makes several major appearances. Artist Formerly Known As Whocares (talk) 20:54, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yomi

[edit]

I have change the meaning of Yomi slightly as the concept of the Yellow-Spring is quite different from Western idea of Hell. The closest word in English for the meaning would be ‘Afterlife’ which does not carry a negative connotation.Bio-capsule (talk) 10:39, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding characters

[edit]

Keiko, Botan, Koenma, and Yukina are placed under main characters in the yu yu Hakusho character list right! I think Keiko, Botan, Koenma, and Yukina should have their own long pages about them--like the ones made for Yusuke, Kazuma, Kurama, Hiei, and Genki. The reason is they are too main characters RIGHT?!?!. I think this change would be awesome for the Yu Yu Hakusho article. It will also give the fans of these characters a oppertunity to look and understand about their favorite characters. THIS WOULD BE A AWESOME CHANGE!!! "anyone Volenteer in doing this" Alkrizy (talk) 21:48, 5 July 2008 (UTC)—Preceding unsigned comment added by Alkrizy (talkcontribs) 21:43, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I believe you should give a page to all the main characters so people can add history and back ground along with pictures because there is a terrible amount of history over the 4 main characters that you dont even cover —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.17.144.64 (talk) 21:29, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I actually was considering making individual pages for the 4 main fighters (Yusuke, Hiei, Kurama, and Kuwabara) once I had time to finish up the refs here. I agree that they are all pretty notable as anime characters with how popular the show/manga is. Hopefully I'll have time to put those together soon. StryyderG (talk) 22:47, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
And I am more than willing to help, though let me admit that my time on Wikipedia will be limited due to real life issues. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 03:42, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Same here. I'm also looking for a source on bio information, i.e. character height, weight, age, something like a character guide, for good refs before starting. Anyone know any good online sources? Also, it would be nice to find some interviews with Togashi that give insight into inspiration. StryyderG (talk) 21:03, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Saint Beast

Merge

[edit]

The characters do not currently assert notability, so they should be merged to this list. Most of the characters from the two single lists will probably just be dumped. TTN (talk) 20:17, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I flatly disagree because of the fact that I find that these pages are much better as they are to avoid becoming too boring. For the main characters page I would propose copyediting for those that need them instead because some anime character pages had gone through that to avoid this. Personally I disagree with nobility becomes it sets the image of what Wikipedia is becoming (which I am bothered with) unless if the subject were too minor that the page needed to be removed of content. -71.193.181.210 (talk) 00:44, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The fun thing would be that Hiei and Kurama seems to have a better chance of establishing notability, more than the main hero Yurashima.(Not that I think they have) MythSearchertalk 17:35, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

BBC+Goki

[edit]

I brought back Goki's entry because he is listed at the Gouki dab. BBC seems to be the second most relevant link (it's existence has been discussed before). I'm ok with the removal of the others though. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 20:57, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Goki dies in like one or two episodes, so he shouldn't even be mentioned there or it should link to the season in which he appears. I plan on mentioning the group in trimmed version of Sakyo's section, as he is really the only important character from it. TTN (talk) 21:07, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What page in particular are you thinking for Goki? Or should the redirect be deleted, and him gone? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 21:11, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The dab page should either link to the first season article or it should just be removed completely. TTN (talk) 21:18, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Think I can go for that. Shall the new target be List of YuYu Hakusho episodes or List of YuYu Hakusho episodes (season 1)? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 21:21, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't really matter to me. Season one probably makes more sense. TTN (talk) 21:25, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Never mind, I'll just have it deleted. Doubt anyone will be looking for such a minor guy anyway. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 21:30, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Filipino dub?

[edit]

Is the dub in English or Filipino? If it is the latter, then why does the English wiki need such information? MythSearchertalk 10:10, 27 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It was dubbed in English. Also it would be on the English wiki because there would be subbers who subbed it in English.DragonZero (talk) 22:39, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, the dub that uses the "Filipino names" of the characters was in Filipino. They aired a dub in English on Animax, but that used the original Japanese names of the characters. I removed the Filipino names, since this is the English Wikipedia. --SilentAria talk 13:38, 21 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The sourced Filipino names (which I believe are Eugene, Alfred, and Vincent) are currently in use on dab-related pages. Also, I don't see these outright removals happening with the Dragon Ball characters. In fact, where exactly in the MoS does it say to take foreign names off in the first place? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 18:16, 21 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have the impression that foreign language names should not be included unless they are related and notable(like the original language, in this case Japanese, or other English alternatives written in Japanese official guide books). Otherwise, we might end up having 10 or more names for each character, just because all foreign names have to be listed. MythSearchertalk 02:30, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm. I was under the impression that foreign language names were discouraged here, unless the dub is notable enough to be included in the article (I suppose the dub here can be said to be notable enough, given the popularity of the series...needs to be sourced though). Plus I seem to recall someone removing the Filipino names from the old Flame of Recca character pages before because of the same line of reasoning.
Oh, by the way...though I don't question the correctness of the sources provided for the dub names, it's still a fansite and doesn't really count as a reliable source. :-/ --SilentAria talk 22:42, 21 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Are you folks suggesting that we should go on a removing spree? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 02:33, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well for starters, I'm the only one that replied and I'm the only one that removed, so I don't think you should go around saying "you folks" and what not. And I wasn't suggesting anything; I was merely attempting to do what I thought was best for the article, especially since this isn't the first time I've encountered this kind of problem. If you feel so strongly about it, then go ahead and undo the removal. --SilentAria talk 04:35, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I am re-removing the "Filipino names" due to the fact that the info is not needed.--heavyoak (talk) 23:52, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There's a Shinobu and a Jin in here, but I can't find anyone named Shinji. Would anyone know if this minor character exists in the series? Someone posted the name on the disambig saying there was on in this series. If so can you please direct Shinji (Hakusho) to it? If anyone's very confident the character doesn't exist could you please remove it from the fictional character disambig in the title? I haven't seen this anime yet so I'm not sure. If the person has a last name that would also be helpful. Tyciol (talk) 20:32, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yes, there is a minor character named Shinji. He is ONLY in the manga.
  • He's not listed anymore because he is too minor. In an older revision, it says...
  • "Shinji (信二) - Shinji, his grandfather, and the tanuki - Shinji is the grandson of an elderly man who rescued a baby tanuki out of a trap years before. Shinji, along with his parents, died in a car accident 6 months before the series and the tanuki, now fully grown, pretends to be Shinji in order to comfort the elderly man in his final days of life."
  • WhisperToMe (talk) 00:20, 6 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Someone also listed a character with this name as being in YuYu Hakusho and they are also not listed, the closest thing I can see here is a 'Sakyo'. If anyone has any information that would be good, I'll be tagging the name there for the moment. Tyciol (talk) 07:54, 27 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted the link from that page. There is no Sakamoto in YYH. StryyderG (talk) 23:26, 28 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Correction, Sakamoto is the name of a very minor character in the first arc of YYH, but not enough to warrant a mention. StryyderG 23:48, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

Bio restructure

[edit]

I'm going to work on these bios one section at a time. Did the MC humans today. StryyderG (talk) 23:41, 28 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I'm looking forward to the improvement of this page ;) Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 00:48, 30 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hated to do it, but I did a huge trim on this article, removing a lot of minor characters. Also I restructured this as a literary character list. I'm moving through the bios reworking them. I have to redo Hiei and Kurama and the protagonists should be done. Did all the antagonists through team Toguro. And a few in the supporting section. Getting there, slowly but surely. StryyderG (talk) 22:38, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Four saint beasts weren't holed up in the Demon World

[edit]

They were in Spirit world —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.78.6.143 (talk) 00:27, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Separate articles for Yusuke, Kuwabara, Kurama and Hiei?

[edit]

I think the four main characters of the series are notable enough to have their own articles, rather than the small paragraphs given here. They're definitely notable as anime/manga characters considering how popular the franchise is, and they've all been featured in official "Greatest Anime characters" lists more than once. There are a lot of interviews and reviews out there that could be used as sources, and considering we have articles for the most prominent characters in Naruto and Bleach, I don't see why there shouldn't be individual article pages for the four major characters of this franchise. 176.61.7.94 (talk) 23:48, 6 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
