Explanation of term "boner"
[edit]"Merkle's Boner" is the correct name for this incident, but considering it occurred over a century ago, and the commonly-used definition of the term "boner" has obviously shifted, I think it would behoove us to include a footnote or other explanation of how the term "boner" meant "a foolish mistake" in the first half of the 20th century.
