Time to rename the article

[edit]

Considering that it is now 10 years since the Museum of the Moving Image in London last existed, while its contemporary of the same name in New York is still alive and well and expanding, I suggest that the New York museum is now the more notable of the two and therefore the article title Museum of the Moving Image should be transferred to that museum. The page for the London museum can become Museum of the Moving Image (London). (I am posting the same suggestion on the talk page for Museum of the Moving Image (New York City), with discussion directed here.) --70.48.232.108 (talk) 09:44, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that it's wrong to let the defunct London one hog the page title. The NY one might be more notable, but I'm not sure how we would know; and the London MOMI certainly remains well-known and might get looked up reasonably often too. (I note in passing that the NY one is not currently open.) I agree that a change is due; I wonder what would be the effect of making the name alone a disambiguation page, with links to the NY and London flavours? We do this in plenty of other places - might it work here? I'm not strongly committed to this idea - it's just a thought. DBaK (talk) 10:33, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I think that would've been an appropriate change when they were both open, but as it stands I prefer my proposal. (Above, posted from 70.48.232.108) --70.48.232.51 (talk) 19:19, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Nice that we reached such a thorough consensus before someone else did it! :) DBaK (talk) 10:03, 19 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What relationship was there between the two museums? Was there any shared personnel or management? If they were separate projects why were they opened within days of each other? Danceswithzerglings (talk) 20:19, 17 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Movieum of London

[edit]

There is a presumably new attraction nearby at County Hall called the Movieum of London. Reviews seem generally poor, but I think that near where it says "London still has no publicly funded film museum", the Movieum should probably get a mention. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rjmunro (talkcontribs) 10:40, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Clips Movie

[edit]

There was a stunning clip-show movie being run on large screens inside the museum, apparently called "Precious moments" containing brief scenes from hundreds of famous films. Any idea if a copy still exists? Zagubov (talk) 20:06, 13 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
