@42.98.58.157: per WP:OR, your own experience is not sufficient as a source for any part of any Wikipedia article. Further, per WP:BLOGS, comments on an online forum are also typically not considered a reliable source. An Owl Called Josh 🦉 (talk) 12:48, 16 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Plasma Mobile

[edit]

@User:Galatz Why did you revert my edits that added a mention of Plasma Mobile? It is relevant to this phone and informative, so why did you revert it? Sure you mightn't care about it personally, but it might be of interest to other readers, so why did you revert it? Fuse809 (contribs · email · talk · uploads) 05:38, 30 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

We never include things like how users modify their phones. Its not encyclopediac. - Galatz גאליץשיחה Talk 13:50, 30 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Is there consensus on this issue? Like is there a style guide to this effect that I can read? Or is this just a personal preference? Fuse809 (contribs · email · talk · uploads) 15:42, 30 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

How does that prohibit the addition I made? What I added was a brief one-sentence mention of it, without any instructions on how to do it, nor did I add a changelog or frankly anything but a mention. If you feel a whole new section for it is too much, I'll be happy to include it at the end of another section, with it still being just one sentence. What a person does with the device is indiscriminate information, and border line WP:TRIVIA. Saying someone can install this on their phone is no different than saying "Users often install Words With Friends on their phone." Just because something is true and verifiable, it doesn't mean it belongs on Wikipedia. - Galatz גאליץשיחה Talk 16:16, 30 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That's not a fair example, given that you could do that with any phone, while Plasma Mobile on Arch/KDE neon is only supported on Nexus 5X (although Nexus 5 was once supported), so it is something very specific to this phone. It is also pretty obvious you could do those things on your phone, while Plasma Mobile and its connection to this phone isn't obvious. In order to know it is compatible you actually have to do research. Likewise, Plasma Mobile isn't an app, it's a entirely different UI that requires a different OS. I suggest you may want to ask your question at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Computing. If you want to talk about mods made for one specific device there are plenty for iphones, but iPhone 7, iPhone 8, iPhone X, etc. all do not mention anything about it. - Galatz גאליץשיחה Talk 16:40, 30 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Here is the disputed content. Fuse809 do we have any WP:INDEPENDENT sources that talk about Plasma Mobile on Nexus 5X? ~Kvng (talk) 14:28, 10 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I hadn't considered that viewpoint, I don't think I do. Given that I'm willing to drop this, until I get a decent independent source. Fuse809 (contribs · email · talk · uploads) 15:10, 10 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
