[edit]

This article is an embarassment to Wikipedia. Does nobody know how to actually write an encyclopedia article? Here's a hint for you - it should be prose not a list. Possibly some people are not capable of writing prose, but that means leave it for someone else and not remove the essential cleanup tag. It also helps if you read the things you link to, Wikipedia:Manual of Style (embedded lists) says "Embedded lists should be used only when appropriate; sometimes the information in a list is better presented as prose paragraphs". This article is an inappropriate use of an embedded list, it should be prose. 2 lines of K303 13:43, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's a timeline. Timelines generally aren't written in prose. Also note the use of the word sometimes. ~Asarlaí 13:45, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If it's a timeline, as you claim, it should be labeled as such, like other timeline articles. This should be rewritten as prose, as Hackney has said. ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 14:20, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It's a timeline of actions by the group and it's under the heading of "Timeline".
See Timeline of Real Irish Republican Army actions for something similar.
If either were turned into prose it would be a right mess. Often when bullet-points are removed we end up with an awful mass of On 1 January 2010 X did X at a house in Derry. On 2 January 2010 X did Y at a house in Strabane. On 3 January 2010 X did Z at a shop in Letterkenny ... sentence after sentence.
Timelines such as this should be written in bullet-point form as it's the clearest way of presenting the information.

Encyclopedia articles should not be written as timelines. I realise that is all some people are capable of writing, but that does not make it correct. 2 lines of K303 12:29, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I also agree; the timelines look pretty bad and don't really add anything to the article. Also the mentioned Timeline for the RIRA is called Timeline of Real Irish Republican Army actions where as this is not meant to be a timeline, perhaps it's time to split the timeline away and let it stand or fall on its own merits? New Activities

[edit]

Should kinetic engagements / attacks be included in this page or at theReal Irish Republican Army. Press accounts of the group now refer the militants as "ex-members" of RAAD, or the group formerly known as RAAD. TheWarOfArt (talk) 14:42, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
