Images of characters being removed
[edit]This is a record of previous messages.
I've reverted your edits to the Character section of Rumble Roses. You rational behind the edit was ambiguous and quite frankly, very unconvincing. --Roaring Siren (talk) 11:38, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
- It's pretty standard practice to remove character portraits from character lists, as their use is generally considered fair use overuse. Based on the non-free content guidelines and non-free content criteria, any use of non-free material must add significantly to the article, either by indentifying its subject (as is the case, say, with a logo on an article about a company) or by illustrating something which is discussed at length in the article, where the appearance is significant. Neither of the character you had illustrated had their appearance discussed, not to mention the fact that, in allowing those images, we would have to allow portraits for all of the other characters, and non-free media is generally not appropriate to illustrate lists of any sort. If List_of_characters_in_Grand_Theft_Auto_IV can have the pictures, why not Rumble Roses ? --Roaring Siren (talk) 11:50, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
- Let's ignore the fact that other crap exists, and instead focus on how this article relates to policy. That article has numerous issues (frankly, it's a terrible article). I will look into the images being used on it now. J Milburn (talk) 11:52, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

Third Opinion
[edit]A request was made for a 3rd opinion. I hope that my thoughts can be helpful.
I've had a look at the images that were on a previous version of this page. I can see a reason for adding maybe 2 images from the game - but no more than that are necessary. In particular, adding portraits of characters as an illustration simply because other similiar pages on wikipedia have done so seems a very weak reason. Having shown an image of the game cover used to advertise the game, showing that of inidividual characters adds little more information - although you might perhaps wish to add a screenshot of the game in full action - i.e. an image of wrestling taking place. I understand the game is marketed as being wrestling-centric, rather than just to look at computer-generated images of inidividual characters.
I notice that the article mentions criticism of the game on the grounds of sexism. One could certainly add an image or two to illustrate this point. The images I've seen of individual characters would certainly provide a good example - although it is possible that someone may have something different in mind.
Summary - show an image of the wrestling in action if you have a suitable one. Add an image to illustrate the criticism of the game on the grounds of sexism. Do not add images of the individual characters just for the sake of it. Don't forget to check the copyright status on the images ! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pmbma (talk • contribs) 16:32, 25 December 2008 (UTC)
I had 2 images on the article before they were removed. Agreed then, we are not going to have images for the character seperately, but then can atleast one be used in the article to illustrate the point Pmbma suggested ? --Roaring Siren (talk) 11:03, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
- Which point? J Milburn (talk) 11:53, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
The point on sexism.--Roaring Siren (talk) 12:05, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
- Which image would you use, and how do you think it would illustrate the point? J Milburn (talk) 12:42, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
File:Aisha-Rumble_Roses.jpg, I guess. The other image is [1]. --Roaring Siren (talk) 13:17, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
- And how would that illustrate the sexism? This just looks to me like an attempt to get the pictures in by any means, rather than a genuine attempt to make the article more informative. J Milburn (talk) 13:37, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
Well, then do you have a better idea as to how to illustrate the point ? --Roaring Siren (talk) 13:44, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
- I don't think it needs illustrating. First of all, the point isn't even cited, secondly, the point is only discussed for a single sentence, without any real reference to what feature is actually being exploited. If we had a paragraph of discussion regarding the skimpy clothing worn by certain characters (along with a reference to a particular character) and then a counter quote from the game's producer on the subject, all cited to various reliable sources, then an image to demonstrate what was being talked about may be warranted. As it stands, an image is not required. J Milburn (talk) 14:04, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
This article in it's talk page requests for screenshots. So then is it ok if I upload a screenshot ,mil ?--Roaring Siren (talk) 14:50, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
- I see no great need for screenshots, either. If you want to improve the article, I reccomend you incorporate the trivia to the rest of the article, cite a few reliable sources and expand it whereever possible. J Milburn (talk) 15:02, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
I don't see why a screen shot should not be included in the article. It'd be rather useful as a visual equivalent of the text about the mud wrestling.Rumble Roses is one of the few,if not the only game which features mud wrestling, so a screenshot would'nt be too unnecessary. Other articles of video games have screenshots (and don't see suggest your damn othercrap shit.) --Roaring Siren (talk) 16:17, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
- Given that thtere are currently no pics in the article as it is and mud wrestling is not the norm in video games I think an appropriate, non-copyvio screenshot would be warranted. Padillah (talk) 17:10, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
Fourth opinion: Someone readded this page to WP:3O, and even though there's no such thing as a "second third" opinion, here's my take. I don't think the two small images need to be included in this article. They don't add anything and really only seem to serve as eye candy. I agree that one in-game screenshot would be acceptable, if only to show what the combat screen looks like. — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 18:25, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
