Lawsuit

[edit]

IPG is currently engaged in a high-profile lawsuit with Frank Lowe (advertiser), former founder of Lowe & Partners, an IPG subsidiary.

is this really appropriate for a talk page? Not sure it's appropriate on the main page either.... maybe on wikinews? --Alvestrand 15:58, 26 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Heh. I'd be surprised if a company this size were not engaged in a high-profile lawsuit (or three) at any given time. —[AlanM1(talk)]— 17:32, 11 April 2013 (UTC); edit —[AlanM1(talk)]— 23:35, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Copyvio

[edit]

The text in the lead had such a professional tone and way of phrasing that I felt compelled to hunt for some of the phrases and, unfortunately, found a number of sources that do not appear to be copies of the WP article, but instead the source for it. I've therefore added the {{copypaste}} warning to the main article.

From this search, comes (among others):

[edit]

The version as of 11 June 2013 is clearly a close match to [this site]. It wasn't that way in the beginning, but the transformation appears to have started 7 January 2010, so I reverted the version prior to that date and revdeled.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 12:39, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Looks good now compared to the other 3 sites, too. Thanks. —[AlanM1(talk)]— 22:42, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have noticed some incorrect information on this wikipedia page but I am not allowed to edit it because I work for MullenLowe Group (one of their agencies) so there is a COI. The change that needs to be made is that 'Lowe & Partners' rebranded to 'MullenLowe Group' in February of this year. Also, in the bottom section, MullenLowe Profero is stated as one of the companies but MullenLowe Profero is an arm of MullenLowe Group and therefore MullenLowe Group should instead be named in that section. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Clare Every (talkcontribs) 09:59, 26 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I work for IPG corporate. Clare's comment above is factually correct. In the text of this article Lowe and Partners should be corrected to MullenLowe Group. You can view an article regarding the change here: [1]. The bottom section of agencies also lacks a number of agencies owned by IPG and should be included in the list. A full list of agencies can be found here: [2]

The mention to 'Lowe & Partners' should be corrected as the company rebranded to MullenLowe Group in January of this year. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.161.102.80 (talk) 10:47, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Some factual info

[edit]

I work for one of the silos of the company. The main divisions are actually FCB, McCann Worldgroup, Mediabrands, MullenLowe, and CMG, the Constituency Management Group. The latter group is the silo for all the non-advertising companies like Jack Morton, The PR firms Golin and Weber Shandwick, Octagon, FutureBrand, etc... As I'm an employee I won't make the edit directly. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.12.7.111 (talk) 08:13, 18 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Update from another employee. CMG renamed itself to DXTRA, and then just renamed itself to SC&E - Specialized Communications and Experiential Solutions. It is now made of three groups: Golin Group, WeberShandwick, and Experiential. Experiential group consists of Jack Morton, Octagon, and Momentum. Weber and Golin have their own subsidiary companies that roll up into them. You can read the other divisions MD&E and IA&C on the IP investor profile page - https://investors.interpublic.com/investor-profile 76.243.193.12 (talk) 20:39, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

January 2019 overhaul

[edit]

I just rewrote and expanded the article, adding history, expanding the divisional and agency info, and rewrote the lede to better summarize the new content. While I was editing, an IP editor came in a made some very specific unsourced edits and deletions of sourced content, and the article was tagged by another editor as an advert. I undid the changes, which hopefully removed the offending advertising language, and notified both the IP and tagging (registered) editor to discuss here. One judgement call I made is to list the divisional groups alphabetically, except for the independents, to make things easier for readers to find. The IP editor suggested sorting by relevancy instead. That may be better - let's discuss - but determining which group is the most relevant might be harder than you think. Also worth pointing out - as per the guidelines I try to follow on my other articles, such as Meal kit, I've only listed IPG's businesses that have their own articles or which can be independently sourced. This source was very helpful for understanding the breakdown: [[5]] I think the list is complete, but if I missed any please feel free to add.
