I made an edit to this page which was reverted because I didn't follow the process, apologies for this.

The page is currently factually inaccurate and I have added factual information with relevant sources and citations. If someone could review this and reinstate it if you feel it's factually better or let me know if there is anything that makes this page worse and needs removing.

Trusted Reviews is a global website that publishes reviews, news, how to guides, opinion articles and videos on consumer products. It is based in London, UK with staff worldwide and published by Incisive Media. It was founded in 2004 and acquired by IPC Media (now TI Media) in 2007 in order to expand its digital operations.

Trusted Reviews produces global product reviews content for its website, YouTube channel and social media accounts focusing consumer products. The site has published over 15,000 consumer product reviews to date in categories such as smartphones, computing and home appliances. Along with product reviews, Trusted Reviews publishes news regarding the consumer tech industry, opinion pieces, how to guides and long-form features.

In addition, Trusted Reviews is approved for paying the Living Wage, regulated by IPSO for press standards and TAG for increasing trust in digital advertising.  

History

Trusted Reviews was founded in 2003 by Hugh Chappell and Riyad Emeran[1] as a response to the decline in sales of computer reviews magazines. Launched to provide a web only product for increasingly internet-literate users, access was deliberately made free to compete with paid-for magazine subscriptions.[2] The website covers the consumer technology market, focusing on mobile phones, TV and audio visual equipment and computing.[3]

  • 2007 - 2017: Sold and owned by Time Inc, during this time Trusted Reviews was a regular contributor to Time Magazine.[4][5]
  • 2017 - 2018: Meredith acquired Time Inc and in association, Trusted Reviews[6]
  • 2018 - 2020: Epiris acquired Time Inc's UK division and rebrands to TI Media, and in association, Trusted Reviews[7]
  • 2020 - present: Incisive Media acquires Trusted Reviews, during to process of Future PLC acquiring TI Media[8]

Testing Process and Facilities

Trusted Reviews has two facilities in the UK that are used for the testing and reviewing of products. Along with the UK-based staff, Trusted Reviews employs staff and freelancers worldwide. Trusted Reviews reviews testing method rely on real world testing and industry standard benchmarking out of UK based locations. The Trusted Reviews Central London offices houses the staff, along with dedicated, custom-built labs for computing, television, mobile phone, audio, camera and gaming testing. The office also has a video studio, used for creating content for the brand’s social channels and video platforms. The Ongar facilities in Essex have full testing capabilities for home appliances such as vacuum cleaners, washing machines, and fridge freezers.
