Proposal of restoration (Reason:Violation of Merger Agreement)
[edit]The discussion to merge the article with the main Flintstones article is not only riddled with holes, but the action to actually merge the information never actually happened, and the discussion "closed" 6 weeks ago. This is completely unacceptable. Why out of all the articles for upcoming TV shows was this one told "No, you can only exist as a redirect to nothing, and your information will not be housed anywhere for immediate view"?--I'm Part-Spider (Would you like to know more?) 20:35, 19 July 2018 (UTC)
- @Harmony944: Articles for Deletion is a community process. The outcome was to redirect this page and merge content to The_Flintstones#Films_and_subsequent_television_series. After an AfD any editor can perform this merge. In this case it looks like Z0 has now done so to The_Flintstones#Yabba-Dabba_Dinosaurs!. For future reference if an AfD closes as merge and redirect you can be the one to help merge it after the redirect (or not - we're all volunteers). Looks like everything is set now. That literally answers nothing. If Articles for Deletion is a community process then so should Articles for Restoration.—I'm Part-Spider (Would you like to know more?) 23:51, 19 July 2018 (UTC)
- Articles for Deletion is a community decision making process. So is deletion review. There is no Articles for Restoration. In general since we're all volunteers we all do what interests us. I am interested in growing the community so I try to engage with newer editors like here. If you stick around you'll find areas you're interested in. The volunteer nature of the project is great but also has real limitations. We, collectively, do the best we can. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 00:46, 20 July 2018 (UTC)
Proper procedure, if you want to recreate the article, is to go to Talk:The Flintstones and propose a split-out, following the proper procedure at WP:PROSPLIT, to gauge if there is consensus for that. Right now, I'd agree that there's not enough info to justify a separate article yet. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 18:42, 21 July 2018 (UTC)
- Not enough info? Precedent says the initial announcement and any info gleaned from it is enough. That a series order is enough. Why pick on a Cartoon when plenty of other shows have articles created on the same basis? WHY WASNT THIS BROUGHT UP IN THE DISCUSSION? Why is it no one actually cares to read off what I actually write? Other stuff exists, yes, but that means discarding precedent and consistency, and that just would throw everything into chaos—I'm Part-Spider (Would you like to know more?) 18:48, 21 July 2018 (UTC)
- WP:Other stuff exists. I'm sure that you are correct that there are currently articles in Mainspace that don't meet WP:TVSHOW yet, but haven't been redirected or moved to Draftspace. That doesn't mean the practice is correct. In the case of this series, there has been no evidence of the start of production, just a basic "pre-production" announcement of intent to order such a series. That doesn't actually mean a series will happen (see: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Strawberry Shortcake (2019 series) for a recent example of a series which was "announced" but then never seems to have gone into production...). To qualify for an article under WP:TVSHOW, you have to demonstrate that production has actually begun on a series, and optimally have some kind of premiere date on a TV network to go with that. This series doesn't have either of those right now. You should feel free to create a Draft article in the meantime... --IJBall (contribs • talk) 18:56, 21 July 2018 (UTC)
- When the “other stuff” in question involves consistency and precedent, discarding that means nothing matters. YDD has at least some cast announced. Strawberry Shortcake 2019 does not. Clear indication of production start.--I'm Part-Spider (Would you like to know more?) 21:50, 21 July 2018 (UTC)
