Ayberk Erkay, Turkish man of letters, translator, collector.

He specialized in French literature, contemporary philosophy, and theater theories after receiving education in these fields. He continued his academic and literary work in these areas. He translated numerous literary works from various Western languages, primarily French, into Turkish. Over a hundred theater plays translated by him, along with a significant number of prose and poetic texts, were published by different publishing houses. Many of his play translations were performed by professional and amateur theater groups. In addition to translating works by influential figures in Western literature such as Rimbaud, Keats, Baudelaire, Stendhal, Mallarmé, Apollinaire, Valéry, T.S. Eliot, Aragon, Tzara, Artaud, Céline, Camus, Vian, Bataille, Blanchot, and Koltès, he conducted research and contributed to the field with literary works and translations focusing on overlooked and deviant texts. He played a role in introducing numerous contemporary authors to the readers.

He made contributions to art and literature-focused publications, collections, and repertoires both domestically and internationally through his research, writings, and translations. He served as a publishing editor and managed various art and literature series within different publishing houses. He also participated in numerous conferences, academic sessions, and international festivals on Western literature and theater, both domestically and internationally.

While concentrating his literary work and academic activities on dramatic and poetic texts in Western literature, he continued his literary translation pursuits without interruption. By tracing the paths of neglected texts, he contributed to the formation and development of a literary archaeology field.

Having a collection of literary works that includes the first editions published in Western languages, signed copies, and limited edition prints, he also serves as an advisor to certain domestic and international collections.
