Rolling Rico

Rolling Rico ( Adam Calvert on 20 March 2003) is an Irish professional mixed martial artist who competes in the Flyweight division of the Dana White's Contender Series. Before winning the DNCS Flyweight division, Rico was previously a Junior Jiu Jitsu Champion.

Background

Rico started training Boxing at 9 years old, and when Conor McGregor drew attention to MMA in Ireland, Rico was inspired to try Jiu Jitsu to expand his martial art skillset. He became a black belt in Jiu Jitsu at the age of 18. He had his first amateur bout right after he turned 16, and debuted professionally at the age of 18.

Hailing from Belfast, Northern Ireland, Rico made his amateur mixed martial arts debut in September 2019 and finished his amateur career in November 2021, racking up a 6–1 record with six finishes and a decision loss over the course of one year.

He made his professional debut in February 2021 at the Flyweight Jiu Jitsu Championship, where he won against James Sheehan via unanimous decision and earned the Fight of the Night award as well as a contract with the promotion. Rico accumulated four more wins in a row, before facing two fight veteran Rostem Akman at the Flyweight Jiu Jitsu Championship. He won the bout in under 8 minutes, setting up a matchup at against Jack Grant for the Flyweight Jiu Jitsu Championship. He won the bout and the title via unanimous decision.
