Lori Stegmann is a Democratic politician in the U.S. State of Oregon. She was appointed to the Gresham City Council, and served from 2011-2016. Since January of 2017, Stegmann has been serving as county commissioner for Multnomah County, the state's most populous county. She is the first Asian American to be elected to the Multnomah County Commission.
Early and Personal Life
[edit]Lori Stegmann was born in Seoul, South Korea, where she was adopted and raised in Gresham, Oregon. She graduated from Portland State University. Prior to entering public service, she was a small business owner in the Rockwood Neighborhood of West Gresham.
Career
[edit]Stegmann served for 6 years on the Gresham City Council. In the November 2016 election[1], Stegmann was elected to the Multnomah County Commission, succeeding Diane McKeel.
In 2018, Stegmann changed her party affiliation to Democrat, after 40 years of being a registered Republican after being fed up and unable to “condone the misogyny, the racism, and the unethical and immoral behavior of the current administration."[2][3]
Stegmann won re-election to her second term as County Commissioner in the November 2020 election.[4]
