History[edit]

Zubeo is a privately-held Portland-area technology startup founded by former Intel engineer Kevin Ulam[1] in October 2006. Headquartered in Portland, Oregon, Zubeo produces a single software product for use on Windows-based personal computers.

Zubeo Software[edit]

The Zubeo software application runs on personal computers running Windows XP SP3 or higher (including Vista and Windows 7). Subscribers use the software to identify their favorite podcast and Internet-ready audio which is in-turn downloaded and cut into a continuous playlist by the software.[2]

These playlists can be synchronized with personal audio players through integration with Windows Media Player, iTunes, and similar third-party software.

Zubeo is free to try for 21 days as a fully-featured system. After the first month, listeners can choose from three subscription options: 1) Continue using a free but feature-limited version of the software, 2) a "basic" single-user membership for $4.95 per month, or 3) a "premium" family-style membership for $7.95 per month.[3] The limited version restricts playlists to two shows in length, among other restrictions.
