James the Prophet

James the Prophet is a Paris-based French, English and American rapper who raps in english. [1]

Life

James was born on November 2nd, 2000 in Bagnols-sur-Cèze, in the French department of the Gard, of an English mother and an American father.

Music Career

After posting his music on Soundcloud starting in 2015[2], James was signed by Sony-distributed label Rupture in 2018[3].

His first music-related appearance was on the french radio show Planet Rap, where he was invited to perform by french rapper Georgio[4]

He released his first mixtape, Summer Archives, on January 17th, 2020.[5]

James the Prophet opened for LA rap group The Pharcyde at Le Petit Bain.[6]

On March 9th, 2020, he appeared on french music show Taratata alongside pop/rock singer Cali.[7]

During the 2020 Covid-19-related lockdown in Paris, he released Bedroom Sessions, a mixtape compiling freestyles on beats from popular songs, from which all profits go to APHP, the parisian university hospital trust.[8]

On May 19th, 2020, he appeared on Quotidien to present his new mixtape.[9]
