The solo discography of Japanese singer-songwriter and musician Gen Hoshino consists of five original studio albums, two extended plays, seven video albums (including five live albums), one box set, twenty singles, ?? promotional singles, and ?? music videos. Hoshino has had two studio albums reach number one on the Japanese music charts of Oricon and Billboard Japan, and has released five number-one singles. The Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) has awarded Hoshino two Million, ten Platinum, and eighteen Gold certifications, accumulating 4.5 million sales and 500 million streams.
Hoshino debuted as the frontman of the instrumental band Sakerock (2000–2015), playing guitar and marimba. Under Daisyworld's imprint Labels United and Victor Entertainment's Speedstar Records, Hoshino released his first solo studio album Baka no Uta in 2010, peaking at number 36 on Oricon's Albums Chart and 38 on Billboard's Top Albums Sales chart. His second album, Episode (2011), took number six on the Oricon chart and number five on Billboard's, supported by his debut single "Kudaranai no Naka ni", which charted within the top twenty of the singles charts. Throughout 2012, Hoshino released his next three singles – all charting within the top five – in promotion of his third album, Stranger (2013). The album peaked at number two on both national charts and was certified Gold in 2017.
In 2015, Hoshino released the single "Sun"–it reached number two on the weekly charts and was certified 3× Platinum in digital sales and Gold in physical sales, Hoshino's first release to receive a certification. The single's album, Yellow Dancer (2015), became his first number one album and was certified Platinum within one month, finishing sixth on Billboard's year-end album chart. The album's corresponding tour's live album, Live Tour: Yellow Voyage (2017), earned Hoshino his first top spot on the Blu-ray and DVD charts. Hoshino reached the top of the songs charts with his next single and The Full-Time Wife Escapist ending theme "Koi" (2016), which was certified by the RIAJ for two million digital sales. He would stay on top of the charts with his following singles "Family Song" (2017), "Idea" (2018), and "Doraemon" (2018), all of which were certified Platinum. Hoshino's fifth and most recent album, Pop Virus (2018), charted at number one and was certified double Platinum.
