Sean P. Kilkenny is an American law enforcement official and attorney who elected sheriff of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania in 2015 and re-elected in 2019, and 2023.
Background
[edit]Sheriff Kilkenny is native of Long Island, New York and is a retired United States Army lieutenant colonel who served as a paratrooper and federal prosecutor in the Judge Advocate General Corps. He has served in Bosnia, Iraq, Kosovo, and South Korea.
Sheriff Kilkenny is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University Sheriff and Deputy Sheriff Training Program. He holds a master's degree in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College, a master's degree of public administration from the University of South Carolina, a law degree from Temple University, and a bachelor's degree from Villanova University.
Aside from his Sheriff duties, Kilkenny is also the founder and manager of Kilkenny Law, LLC,[1] a firm providing legal counsel on real estate, zoning, and litigation matters to various municipalities in the Philadelphia suburbs. Additionally, he serves as Solicitor to multiple Townships, Boroughs, Zoning Boards, and School Districts.
Montgomery County Sheriff
[edit]The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office (MCSO), employs more than a hundred sworn deputies and nearly two dozen administrative staff members. Montgomery County is the third largest county in Pennsylvania with more than 850,000 residents.[2]
The MCSO is responsible for courthouse security, prisoner transport, service of criminal warrants and legal documents, the issuing License to Carry firearms permits and sheriff sales. The MCSO includes several specialty divisions, including honor guard, bomb disposal, TRIAD and canine units.[3]
