The Twins and Multiple Births Association[1], better known by it acronym Tamba, is a national charity based in the United Kingdom. It supports parents, family members and health professionals involved in the care of twins, triplets and higher multiples[2]. The charity campaigns for improved maternity care, fair financial support, and fair access to education for all UK families with twins or more[3]. Tamba also supports families through online resources, a phone helpline and a range or support services[4]. Its current Chief Executive is Keith Reed.
History
[edit]Tamba was established by parents of multiples and interested professionals in 1978[5]. It was created with the goals of supporting families with twins or more, raising awareness about the needs of multiples and their families with medical and education professionals, and supporting twins clubs[6]. Judi Linney is one of the founding members of the charity, and remains its president to this day. In 2008 she received a MBE for her work in health care and voluntary sector, including her work with Tamba[7].
