Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Request reason:

I went into the link-building section of wiki and saw that there were some mistakes with some of the information regarding white hat tactics and some of the social media bookmarking items and things like that. I added my reference to the reference list and was about to edit the information within the article and that is when I noticed this message and was not able to submit my update.

Decline reason:
