Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you. Hello Alexf, I would like to change my username to Avascent. I am a company representative, and I'm trying to fully comply with Wikipedia's policy on paid representatives of companies. Our page is horribly out of date, missing information, and using the wrong logo. The company has officially changed its name to just Avascent. I'm not looking to promote my company, I'm trying to delete incorrect information, while making it perfectly clear that I am a company representative; help! And thank you.AvascentMarketing (talk) 17:37, 19 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Dangerous Panda,

Your note led me to this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Autoblock

PROBLEM: Where the heck do I go to get code generated for me under the "IP Blocked" section? I typed "IP Blocked" into the wiki search bar, and nothing. "What do I do now" does not bring anything up either.

Help!

And thank you.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Autoblock Clearing an autoblock [Due to the nature of the block applied we need additional information before we can decide whether to unblock you. It is very likely that you are not personally blocked. If you are prevented from editing, it may be because you are autoblocked or blocked because of your IP address. Without further details there is nothing further we can do to review or lift your block. Please follow these instructions:

If you have a Wikipedia account, please ensure that you are logged in.
Your account name will be visible in the top right of this page if you are.
If it isn't, try bypassing your web browser's cache.
   Try to edit the Sandbox.
If you are still blocked, copy the {{unblock-auto|...}} code generated for you under the "IP blocked?" section. This is usually hidden within the "What do I do now?" section. If so, just click the "[show]" link to the right hand side to show this text.
Paste the code at the bottom of your user talk page and click save.

If you are not blocked from editing the sandbox then the autoblock on your IP address has already expired and you can resume editing.] AvascentMarketing (talk) 17:29, 20 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You're blocked directly and not autoblocked, so I've voided the autoblock unblock request. PhilKnight (talk) 12:38, 21 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I repeat.

Where is the "IP Blocked" section?

And again, I repeat.

Where is the "What do I do now?" section?

Neither are live links for me on this page, I need their direct URLs: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Autoblock

Thank you!

To recap, you have been blocked, and requested an unblock. Following this, DangerousPanda has asked you a question, but instead of answering, you're asking questions that have no bearing on your unblock request. I suggest you stop repeating your questions, and reply to DangerousPanda. PhilKnight (talk) 19:07, 21 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello DangerousPanda and PhilKnight,

If I'm just having my chain jerked here because I'm clearly Marketing for my firm (full disclosure willingly given), just be honest with me. I'm really trying to abide by the rules in asking that correct information be added and incorrect information be deleted from my company page. We just want to be fairly represented.

For the record, I just Ctrl+Fed all question marks on my talk page, and I didn't see any questions from Dangerous Panda.

Let's start over.

1. I would like to unblock my user name then change my username to comply with Wikipedia's rules. How do I do that, with direct links to any forms to fill out? I've already tried to follow previous instructions given to no avail.

2. After that I would like to be able to leave a message in my company page's talk page saying "Hello Wikipedia community. Please help us update our page. Our logo is incorrect, AND:

In 2009, Avascent founded its Avascent Analytics division, a provider of integrated market analysis products for use by business development and strategic planning groups in companies and governments around the world. The tools that Avascent Analytics develops help its clients forecast markets, evaluate customer priorities, identify opportunity space, and measure competitor market share. The core Avascent Analytics toolkit – called “050” in reference to the national security budget function in the United States – spans a wide array of markets across 47 countries including the U.S., including: • Military aircraft, ships, and ground vehicles • Defense electronics • Missile systems • Technical and professional services. In addition to its central offering, Avascent Analytics maintains quantitative “modules” that that address the markets in such diverse areas as: • Commercial Aviation and Aircraft Systems • U.S. Federal Government Cyber Spending • U.S. Intelligence Community Spending • Military and Commercial Space Systems

If there's a faster, still appropriate way to get the above, correct information on my company page, I will happily do as directed by wikipedia's staff. I just need detailed instructions (with direct links) on how to do so. I would really appreciate your help.

Thanks again,

C.

  • I have declined your unblock request - you seem to have missed the point that someone from marketing CANNOT edit the article for their firm - you have WP:COI. You agreed to these things when you joined. Now, this block applies to YOU the person, you may never create a new account, nor can you edit without logging in unless you somehow get this block removed. the panda ₯’ 23:40, 21 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello DangerousPanda,

So just to be clear, you are stating that: "I have declined your unblock request" and "you may never create a new account, nor can you edit without logging in unless you somehow get this block removed."

So basically, you're not going to unblock me, and I can't create a new account, unless you or a colleague unblock me, which you're not going to do. So basically, I the person can never:

a) change my username to comply with wikipedia's rules b) appropriately submit a request on the talk page of my company page to the wiki community asking them to please consider editing our page according to publicly available information c) edit anything on Wikipedia ever, regardless of whether it has anything to do with my company or whether I have anything to contribute in a personal capacity on another topic.

...because you are never going to unblock me. Please confirm.

Hello again DangerousPanda,

My apologies, for the record I think I just found the question you alluded to earlier. To answer, I absolutely would like to try and gain WP:CONSENSUS via the talk page. I do not intend, nor will I ever edit any article pertaining to my company, ever. I would consider it a breach of common sense ethics, which is why I'm staying patient, and continuing to ask questions. Having an honest, up to date, ethical representation of my company is the most important thing to me.

If this is your question below, I hope I've answered it.

"As the founder of Wikipedia has stated, those with WP:COI should never edit the article(s) directly: they should propose changes on the article talkpage, and try and gain WP:CONSENSUS for them. Is this your intent, or do you intend to edit those articles? the panda ₯’ 23:09, 19 August 2014 (UTC)"
