[edit]

Thanks for your edits to Montreal. I replacced a couple of external links you added, with wikilinks instead. You had the right instinct: the first sentence of Wikipedia's Manual of Style on linking says:"Linking through hyperlinks is an important feature of Wikipedia. Internal links bind the project together into an interconnected whole." That said, in Wikipedia articles, we link to other Wikipedia articles in line, not to websites outside of Wikipedia. So for example:

  • we could use: Green tickY [[Montreal International Jazz Festival]] – this is okay, because it is a wikilink.
  • we don't use: Red XN [https://www.montrealjazzfest.com/en Montreal International Jazz Festival] – because this is contrary to the guideline on the use of external links.

Also, generally, a link should appear only once in an article, so you didn't need to link the Jazz Festival again in the § Culture section. (There's an optional External links section in some articles, where a small number of external links may be permitted.) Hope this helps, Mathglot (talk) 18:47, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
