Request reason:

I am not promoting this business just writing about them. I have not used any backlinks or cited any websites other than in the logo which I do not need to use if it is restricted. I designed the logo myself but did not realise I can not cite URLs. I can redesign the logo specifically for Wikipedia without the URL. Please place new posts at the bottom. Wikipedia is not a database of everything that exists. This is an encyclopedia with criteria for inclusion, which we call notability- such as the special Wikipedia definition of a notable organization. Articles here are not for merely documenting the existence of the subject and what it does- they must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about the subject. 331dot (talk) 19:50, 5 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure how you can judge my tone via text, but I have no tone. I was not suggesting you did anything nefarious, just informing you. It would be unusual for someone to personally own the logo of an organization; organization logos are typically owned by the organization- and as such cannot be on Commons. They could be uploaded to this Wikipedia directly and used under fair use(which carries some restrictions like being unable to be in drafts). If you personally own the logo, you certainly can release the copyright, though this would mean that anyone could use the logo for any purpose(including commercial) as long as attribution is provided.

I own the business UK Website Designers and Cymru Marketing Journal (CMJUK) and the logo. I was not trying to promote CMJUK just trying to put it out there. Donations are handled by the Wikimedia Foundation that collects them, not us volunteer editors; the Foundation primarily operates the computers Wikipedia is on, and is not involved in day to day matters; donations or withholding donations has no impact on content. The Foundation's finances are also stable, if you don't wish to give money, that's your business.

"Trying to put it out there" is the definition of promotion. You don't have to be soliciting or selling something. As I said above, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not a mere database. Your business needs to meet the definition of a notable business to be included here.

It's disappointing you have adopted this hostile attitude with me, I have none towards you, I am just providing information about our policies and procedures. If you feel that the block is in error, you may make another appeal for someone else to review, any decision will be theirs and not involve me further.
