Willard T. Sears article

Hi UTC, you're welcome, that was fun. Can you perhaps help clean up the question of who designed the Pilgrim Monument? All local contemporary pop literature sources I have refer to it as being designed by Sears with no mention of Charles Amos Cummings. However, the Cummings page here seems to claim the Monument for him with little mention of Sears's involvement. Sears was a descendant of the Mayflower, I have heard, and that might make it likely that he'd be involved.Cape cod naturalist 20:30, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pilgrim monument

I've dug up a couple old sources with pictures of a different Pilgrim Monument in Plymouth (e.g. [1]). It seems like this one no longer exists? Just wondering if you knew anything.... -- Kendrick7talk 18:41, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you much for the digging. I didn't know about that monument so I did some digging, too. It appears to still be there in Plymouth albeit under a new name: National Monument to the Forefathers Perhaps they changed the name to avoid confusion with the one in Provincetown? Yeah, OK -- that's the one in the pic I saw. I was just confused since I was looking at sources from the 1890s. Yeah, maybe I should go ahead and disambig them. I thought it was weird when I google'd "Pilgrim Monument" and one of the first hits was an editorial saying "it's not in Plymouth" when I'm looking at a source that clearly says it is in Plymouth. Provincetown Harbor

Well when I checked out the page to see what it might need to be expanded, I noticed a lot already there. It seems that I never changed the template that would indicate its class. It is now a B-Class article and I think that you could personally nominate it for a GA-class review on another project. I think that it is good right now in terms of things to add but if you can find anything, add it because it will be useful to somebody someday. Namespace vio

I notice that this category is unpopulated (empty). In other words, no Wikipedia pages belong to (are members of) it. If it remains unpopulated for four days, it may be deleted, without discussion, in accordance with Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#C1. I'm notifying you, the creator of the category, in case you wish to (re-)populate it by adding [[Category:Wikipedians by alma mater: Cape Cod Community College]] to articles/categories that belong in it.

I have also blanked the category page. This will not, in itself, cause the category to be deleted. It serves to document (in the page history) that the category was empty at the time of blanking and also to alert other watchers that the category is in jeopardy. You are welcome to revert the blanking if you wish. However, doing so will not prevent deletion if the category remains empty.

If you created the category in error, or it is no longer needed, you can speed up the deletion process by tagging it with {{db-author}}.

A tag has been placed on File:Steamship.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

Non-free rationale for File:Markslogo.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Markslogo.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment.
