Speedy deletion of Grooves (archaeology
[edit]A tag has been placed on Grooves (archaeology requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. The article Reddicap Heath Sutton Coldfield has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- NN something? Can't really tell if its about a farm, or a region, or a town. The 'reference' external link is a page of pictures.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Syrthiss (talk) 11:26, 20 May 2011 (UTC)

Frederic John Walker
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article Frederic John Walker, please cite a reliable source for your addition. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. See Wikipedia:Citing sources for how to cite sources, and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. --88.104.47.107 (talk) 10:50, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
- Sir, arguing with the article mid-flow does not set the right tone. If you wish to change details of the article (properly sourced, naturally) then do so. If you wish to write about the article (to complain about it, I imagine), then do so on Talk:Frederic John Walker, which is the correct venue to discuss such matters.

An alternative suggestion
[edit]You could instead try taking your concerns about the article to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Military history. That would draw input from a wider range of editors interested in the field and who have experience of fixing articles of this kind. But don't go into it with a battlefield mentality; a civil request will attract more help than calling anyone "left wing anti war anti heroe idiots". --88.104.47.107 (talk) 15:15, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
Your recent edits
[edit]Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 16:36, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
Error on HMS Kite (U87)
[edit]I mention in the main text that Lt Cmdr Campbell was HMS Kite's temporary commander when she was sunk, this has now been found to be incorrect, he had been appointed her Captain in May 1944, fully 3 months before the sinking. I wanted to amend the paragraph but cannot see an edit button for the top section of the page??? Elbmek (talk) 21:18, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
Present paragraph: At 06:30 on 21 August, Kite slowed to 6 knots (10 km/h) to untangle her "foxers" (anti acoustic torpedo noise makers, towed astern). The decision to do so, rather than severing the foxers' cables and abandoning them, was made by her temporary commander, Lt Comdr Campbell, a submariner. At that speed Kite was a sitting duck, and she was hit by two torpedoes from U-344 (commanded by Oberleutnant Ulrich Pietsch) and sank.
Propsed paragraph: At 06:30 on 21 August, Kite slowed to 6 knots (10 km/h) to untangle her "foxers" (anti acoustic torpedo noise makers, towed astern). The decision to do so, rather than severing the foxers' cables and abandoning them, was made by her Captain Lt Comdr Campbell, a former submariner. At that speed Kite was a sitting duck, and she was hit by two torpedoes from U-344 (commanded by Oberleutnant Ulrich Pietsch) and sank.

Decline reason:
IP block exemption is only granted in cases of special need. "I am here via Virgin Media" is not a special need. If you want to argue that the IP is blocked in error, you will need to provide the IP address so we can look into the block. If you don't want to publish it here, you can let us know privately via WP:UTRS. Huon (talk) 19:35, 31 July 2017 (UTC)
