Information icon Hello, FBKTechnology. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Florida Blue Key, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Damon Killian (talk) 18:41, 15 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing. Additionally, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for your contributions to Wikipedia, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block. To do so, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason for thinking that the block was an error, and publish the page. Request reason:

The information posted on the Wikipedia page, Florida Blue Key isn't accurate information and was providing a negative image towards the Florida Blue Key Page. The article Student Government wasn't accurate and instead was slander. I removed it because I didn't want other users to read it and so I removed it from our page. If I did vandalize I did not mean to, instead I was just trying to revert some of the changes made. Next time I will try to be more cautious but what we have on our website right now isn't accurate information regarding our organization.

Decline reason:

Now that you know your edits were inappropriate, how would your future edits be different, specifically? What subject areas would you edit if unblocked? And don't forget, you have to pick a new username. Yamla (talk) 19:22, 15 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I think I am confused by what you mean. The edits I made weren't inappropriate. What I removed was false information about our organization on the wikipedia page, so I removed it because I didn't want lies on the wikipedia page so that any user who was reading the page wouldn't get false information. Specifically I would revert the page back to June 4, 2019. That information is most up to date}}

You violated WP:USERNAME, WP:PAID, and WP:COI. Additionally, you removed cited information. If you truly don't understand that your edits were inappropriate, there are no grounds to consider lifting the block. Remember, we don't care what your organisation wishes to say about itself. That's simply not relevant to Wikipedia. --Yamla (talk) 19:28, 15 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

{{unblock| What does Wikipedia care about then? Maybe I have a misunderstanding of what wikipedia is for. It is my understanding that Wikipedia is as a free online encyclopedia, enabling users to share factual information. Is that incorrect? I would be happy to change my username as well.}}

This is not an unblock request. Please only keep one open unblock request at a time. We've linked to a lot of information already. For example, we have linked to WP:COI. The answers you seek are given in the various policies and guidelines we've linked to. Please take the opportunity to read them. Then, feel free to modify your unblock request so you pick a new username, demonstrate that you understand our policies, and tell us what you'd do differently, what subject areas you'd edit about, if unblocked. --Yamla (talk) 19:42, 15 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
If I was unblocked I would change the Student Government, Controversy section as I believe it is Hoaxing Vandalism having the paragraph

"Florida Blue Key's control of politics has been compared to The Machine at the University of Alabama.[3]

For decades, members of Florida Blue Key have been the gatekeepers of student involvement on campus. Florida Blue Key utilizes members of campus Greek life as a means to win Student Government elections via collecting "I Voted" stickers.[4] Each Greek house has to reach a certain quota of "I Voted" stickers in order to maintain favor with members of Florida Blue Key, the Interfraternity Council, and the Panhellenic Council. These houses need to collect stickers in order to be paired well for socials and to reap the positions within Student Government. By winning Student Government elections, Greek students are able to entirely control Student Government. With such a system, members of Florida Blue Key have maintained their stranglehold on elected and unelected student positions under the umbrella of Student Government. As such, membership of Florida Blue Key director positions primarily comprise of students in Greek life.[5] Every election cycle, Florida Blue Key officers, directors, and members support a singular Student Government party, known as the Greek party, System party, or Blue Key party. Currently, the system party is the Gator party. Prior to the Gator party, the system party was the Impact party. Before the Impact party, the system party was the Swamp party. Student leaders elected with the system party are formally inducted as members of Florida Blue Key. This was the case with Santiago Gutierrez and Sarah Abraham who were students on the spring 2019 Impact party executive ticket. [6]"

not be true and in my opinion considered hoaxing vandalism because it was "Deliberately adding falsities to articles" in addition it could be considered page creation, illegitimate as well, assuming I understand that correctly . I have taken the time to read the pieces you sent me which is why I am requesting for my username to be changed. From here I would simply just revert the changes made to the page. Specifically to edits made in either September or June. If there is anything else I can do to expedite this process please let me know. }}

You aren't going to be unblocked to do that. Zero chance. Please reread WP:COI, WP:PAID, WP:CITE, WP:RS. If this is your only goal, we are done here. --Yamla (talk) 20:05, 15 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I am more confused than anything now. Would you please explain it to me one more time if you don't mind, I am not being paid I am not affiliated with this organization I don't know what more I can do, all I wanted to do was revert a false page. If information is wrong on the page what would've been the better way of going about it then. — Preceding unsigned comment added by FBKTechnology (talkcontribs)

You have a conflict of interest for that article. We aren't interested in having you directly edit it to remove cited controversy, because you are too close to the subject matter. We frankly aren't interested in what your organisation wishes to say about itself. We are only interested in unblocking you if you wish to write about other subject areas. If you are, great! Let us know what they are. And you might even be permitted to suggest edits to that article, on the article's talk page. But if that's your only goal, no. --Yamla (talk) 20:14, 15 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

What if the article isn't accurate? — Preceding unsigned comment added by FBKTechnology (talkcontribs)

This isn't really your concern. Though as noted, if you plan to primarily contribute to other articles, you could suggest edits on the article's talk page, after declaring your conflict of interest. --Yamla (talk) 20:20, 15 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

So if there were edits that I wanted to add, primarily in the responsibilities page could I then be unblocked as there events that are missing, primarily the Orange and Blue Golf Tournament held in Gainesville, FL, additionally the Miss UF pageant is glazed over and the Health Professions day is also not mentioned, adding some content under that section I think would really help the page

Again, we aren't interested in unblocking you if your only goal is to edit (or suggest edits) to Florida Blue Key. --Yamla (talk) 20:30, 15 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Is there anything else I can do? I would like to be able to add changes where I see fit, also I read the article about changing of usernames, is the one I have listed good?

I'm afraid racsel is unavailable; someone else has registered it. I wouldn't unblock you based on the above as it appears your only goal is to write about Florida Blue Key. However, someone else might. --Yamla (talk) 20:52, 15 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
