Hello, I'm Excirial. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation seemed less than neutral to me, so I removed it for now. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Excirial (Contact me,Contribs) 19:17, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Eyesnore. I wanted to let you know that I removed an external link you added to the page Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation because it seemed inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thanks. Conflict of interest re your username

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation, and I noticed that your username, "Hhsfoundationh", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Trammel Museum of Art". However, you are invited to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you personally, such as "Mark at WidgetsUSA", "Jack Smith at the XY Foundation", and "WidgetFan87". Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. Moreover, I recommend that you read our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please create a new account or request a username change that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. Jim1138 (talk) 19:56, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of tags

[edit]
  • The article is still an WP:ORPHAN as no other articles link to it.
  • The article still does not cite third party references. See WP:RS
  • You appear to have a conflict of interest. See above.

You need to resolve these issues before removing the tags. Jim1138 (talk) 19:56, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I did link the Hamilton Health Sciences page. Hhsfoundationh (talk) 20:08, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.  You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you. kelapstick(bainuu) 19:57, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Your new name would be fine. However, consider the following query:

Here are a few key questions:

You are currently blocked because your username appears directly related to a company, group or product that you have been promoting, contrary to the username policy. Changing the username will not allow you to violate the 3 important principles above. Daniel Case (talk) 22:16, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

All I wanted to do was copy exact information about the Foundation from the website. The current information on Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation, and Hamilton Health Sciences is out-of-date. The hospital just completed a merger, and it is important to correct the information to show that the Foundation does not support all the Hamilton Health Sciences Hospitals.

In addition, information denoting donations in 2010 are incorrect, and I wanted to add correct information from 2013.

Please sign talk page posts with ~~~~ which puts your sig and the timestamp on. Are you aware that material may not be copied from other places into Wikipedia? Please see WP:COPYVIO for more details of this. Peridon (talk) 09:15, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Where does Wikipedia get it's information then, if not from other sources? Yes I am close to the subject matter, making me better informed to provide edits. I did not create the article, I merely meant to update it with 2013 information on money raised, and to include the merger of West Lincoln Memorial Hospital, which does not have a page though the other hospitals associated with Hamilton Health Sciences do. If I'm not qualified to make these updates, by all means please have another user update these pages and delete this account. Thank you. Hhsfoundationh (talk) 16:19, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Material in Wikipedia articles is based on outside sources, yes, but it is not 'exact copies' of that material. Anything that is published (print or online) is copyright. Wikipedia is copyright - but it is licensed for free use by anyone anywhere. The text from the foundation is not licensed in this way. If it's copied to here, it's a violation of copyright. The moment anyone copies it from here, there is another violation of copyright and on down the line. A happy day for the lawyers... You have to use new wording based on the facts in the sources. And you have to avoid close paraphrasing. You can't just change a word here and a word there. Another point: being close to the source gives you a bias. Wikipedia articles are warts and all, including pimples. (One perpetrator of a vanity article about himself was very upset when very well sourced information about certain court cases was added to the article.) You're not blocked for promoting, but do remember that articles do not always remain as glowing testimonials that all is marvellous. The dark side can't be removed if it's well sourced. Peridon (talk) 17:35, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Please delete this account then, as I seem to be unable to make the appropriate changes. Hhsfoundationh (talk) 15:31, 16 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
