Hello, I'm DB1729. I noticed that in this edit to Shades of pink, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. DB1729talk 18:52, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm sorry but am new to editing Wikipedia. My team and I have been working on research about the definition of the word pink when referring to colour. The content I removed was not pink but closer to orange or light red. I felt that if colours were included that are not pink, it would be too confusing for people. I am not sure how to include an edit summary but will look it up to add one. Thank you for your message. PinkMakesRed (talk) 14:19, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What exactly do you mean by "my team and I have been working on research"? Please be aware that original research isn't allowed on Wikipedia, and we need verifiable, published, reliable sources for information to be included. My Pants Metal (talk) 15:02, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
When it comes to the definition of the word pink when referring to colour, it is very evident that cultural usage of the word has changed. It is no longer defined as a pale red but includes a wide variety of colours, including vivid colours very close to magenta. One famous example is Barbie Pink but there are many examples. Definitions of the word pink need to reflect it's most accurate usage. PinkMakesRed (talk) 18:18, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Do you have any reliable sources to verify your claims? Remember, this is an encyclopedia. Any material challenged or likely to be challenged needs to be cited with a reliable source. Otherwise, it's subject to removal. Please read the Wikipedia policies WP:RS, WP:V, WP:CITE, WP:OR as well as WP:BURDEN. My Pants Metal (talk) 18:40, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The proof is within the article. There are many shades of pink listed and the definition needs to reflect that very obvious information. Anyone looking at an article about shades of pink and seeing the word pink being defined as a pale red, would see that it makes no sense. If you want the article to be accurate, you need to be clear that the word pink when referring to colour, includes a variety of colours and is not a pale red.
