A tag has been placed on Draft:Qmage, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Qmage, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

[edit]
There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 14:12, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I need further instructions on creating a page correctly. This was intended to be for a business to reflect history and timelines. Can you please send me in the right direction. Thank you!Qmage (talk) 15:05, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

1) Company/group/shared accounts are not allowed, and usernames in the names of companies are not allowed.

2) Wikipedia is not a place for companies to list themselves and is not a company directory or marketing platform. Wikipedia does carry articles (but not user pages) about companies, but they are typically written by disinterested third parties using reliable sources (see WP:RS), and a company must satisfy the minimum notability requirements at WP:NCORP.

3) Advertising and promotion are especially forbidden at Wikipedia, and your writing here was blatantly promotional - the kind of material I'd expect to see in a marketing release and not an encyclopedia.

4) Wikipedia has strict rules about conflict of interest (see WP:COI) and paid editing (see WP:PAID), and you would have to abide by them if you wish to edit here.

So what should you do? Follow the instructions in the block message for requesting a change of username, and as you will almost certainly not be allowed to write about your company here, explain what you would instead wish to do to help us build our encyclopedia. If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Hi, thanks for email. The reasons for the block and the appeal procedure are in the box above. I won't consider any appeal myself because that's not fair to you. Note that it is a condition of any unblock that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked, which I guess is not what you want. Some general guidance follows:

  • you must provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the organisation or company, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the company claims or interviewing its management.
  • The notability guidelines for organisations and companies have been updated. The primary criteria has five components that must be evaluated separately and independently to determine if it is met:
  1. significant coverage in
  2. independent,
  3. multiple,
  4. reliable,
  5. secondary sources.
Note that an individual source must meet all four criteria to be counted towards notability. I can't see any indication of notability as defined in the link, it's just an unsourced sales pitch telling us what your company does
  • you must write in a non-promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic. Examples of unsourced or self-sourced claims presented as fact include: This technology has laid the groundwork for connecting real objects to the internet cloud and then displaying information on these objects. This scanning technology (including QR codes) is currently in wide practice around the world.... and so on. It's not a "research tool", as you claim, it's blatant spam
  • there shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections. That's particularly the case when they are spamlinks to affiliated sites.
  • You mustn't copy text even from your own website. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial, and text is considered to be copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.
  • If you work directly or indirectly for an organisation, or otherwise are acting on its behalf, you are very strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly. Regardless, if you are paid directly or indirectly by the organisation you are writing about, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Qmage. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Qmage|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If you are being compensated, you must provide the required disclosure.

Request reason:

Thank you Jim, this was insightful. I understand the policy and can see why this is in place. May I request the account I created be deleted so I it does not prevent me from future contributions as an independent person separate from my company? I have informed my colleagues of this decision and have been relieved of the assignment. They received the responses and will not be focusing any further efforts on this platform. I would like to additionally indicate my role within the company: I was simply following their directive and do not wish to be banned in any way. I appreciate you attention. Thank you. Decline reason:

Procedural decline only; Accounts cannot be deleted, but they can be renamed. Please follow the instructions in your block notice to request an unblock and username change at the same time. 331dot (talk) 19:22, 27 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
