[edit]
There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing. Additionally, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for your contributions to Wikipedia, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block. To do so, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason for thinking that the block was an error, and publish the page. Request reason:

Apologies for misunderstanding the rules re posting the page. Palmerston and Regional Basketball will cease to be a user. My name is Rachel Fosdick and I can be the person responsible for editing the Palmerston and Regional Basketball page to remove all advertising and promotion

Decline reason:

I have renamed your account from Palmerston and Regional Basketball Association. However, the other elements of the block still need to be addressed. To be unblocked:

If you have no interest in editing Wikipedia beyond writing about your organization, then you will not be unblocked. If this is the case, I recommend you consider alternative outlets.

So we know understanding is mutual, please state your understanding/response to each item in your own words.

I'm sorry that this message could not be more favorable. 331dot (talk) 08:45, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You seem to be confused about what Wikipedia is. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not a place to merely tell about a subject. As an encyclopedia, Wikipedia summarizes what independent reliable sources with significant coverage say about organizations that meet Wikipedia's special definition of a notable organization. Wikipedia is not interested in what an organization wants to say about itself. Please review conflict of interest as noted above. If you are only here to tell the world about your organization, this is the end of the road for your Wikipedia career. If you want to be an individual, general contributor and edit about subjects unrelated to your conflict of interest, please proceed as described above. 331dot (talk) 08:45, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

only myself will use this account - Rachel Fosdick I agree to not creating or editing anything relating to the organization. I understand requested edits will still be permitted. I agree to abide by the Wikimedia Foundations Terms of Use (I have since familiarized my self more thoroughly) I have no financial relationship with the organisation I posted about. I am volunteer administrator with them. I have an interest in the city I live in, basketball as a sport and Australian history. None of which if edits are submitted will contravene the paid contributor policy

I definitely now understand my error in the page I listed. I understand the conflict of interest and I appreciate your efforts in informing me)— Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:8003:ad1f:6300:ec0c:60cd:55c1:e8e7 (talk) 09:30, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

@HickoryOughtShirt?4:, @331dot: This unblock request seems reasonable - I believe that the user has addressed the issues they've been asked to address, and would be inclined to unblock. Would either of you have any objections? GirthSummit (blether) 09:16, 15 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

In my opinion it's going to be difficult for this user to edit about basketball in Australia since that's the area of her COI, but I'm content to leave it to your good judgement. 331dot (talk) 10:23, 15 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Rachel Fosdick - further to 331dot's concern above, I just want to make sure that you understand that, even though you do not receive payment from the Palmerston and Regional Basketball Association, your role as a volunteer administrator there means that you have a clear conflict of interest with regard to that organisation. This means that you would be expected to declare your role on your user page, and that you should not edit any article directly associated with them - you must restrict yourself to making edit requests on the talk page of any related article. Articles where your COI would include, for example, articles about any teams, players or competitions associated with your organisation. I don't think that your connection with them would rise to the level of a COI to articles about basketball in general, but you would need to tread carefully, and if in doubt make an edit request rather than a direct edit. Anything that looked like promotion, or even adding neutral content about your organisation into any article, would probably result in your account being blocked again without further warning. Please confirm that you understand this. Thanks GirthSummit (blether) 11:02, 15 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Thanks again for your consideration. I appreciate the complex nature of the Conflict of Interest issue and happy to only suggest edits in the are of basketball as a broad topic if required.
