National varieties of English

[edit]

Information icon Hello. In a recent edit to the page Bibliotheca Alexandrina, you changed one or more words or styles from one national variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English in Wikipedia articles.

For a subject exclusively related to the United Kingdom (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. For something related to another English-speaking country, such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, India, or Pakistan, use the variety of English used there. For an international topic, use the form of English that the first author of the article used.

In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to another, even if you don't normally use the version in which the article is written. Respect other people's versions of English. They, in turn, should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Manual of Style. If you have any questions about this, you can ask me on my talk page or visit the help desk. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 11:54, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your feedback. I will consider your notes next time. Should I edit what I've written in these articles? Please let me know.
Sincerely, Global Innovation In (talk) 12:56, 11 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because it has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  • Provide a new username.

To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can search to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is still available.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 16:42, 5 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

I am requesting an unblock and proposing a new username, 'S.Hyari', as my previous username did not comply with Wikipedia's username policy. I understand the importance of maintaining a respectful and appropriate username and will ensure my new username aligns with the guidelines. Besides, I will take into consideration the way of editing articles, I appreciate your consideration and look forward to contributing constructively to Wikipedia

Decline reason:

The username issue is now resolved. However, you have not sufficiently addressed your violation of WP:COI and possibly WP:PAID, nor told what edits you will make now that you know you won't be permitted to, in the short term, edit about your organization. 331dot (talk) 18:56, 11 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for clarifying,
I am a writer, I decided to do volunteer work for Wikipedia. I took a program with the Global Innovation Institute that was great, and it impacted my work experience. I noticed no one talked about them on Wikipedia, so I asked them to allow me to write about them. However, I only followed the instructions for editing articles, unaware of whether or how much it influenced my editing of others` articles. Currently, I have learnt from my mistakes, I will respect the national varieties of English in Wikipedia articles and other policies while editing. In addition, I thought it would be more reliable if I used their email. I apologise for not reading the policy of Wikipedia very well.
Please accept my apologies and I will just read more about how people edit the articles of Wikipedia before doing that without publishing any articles in short term.
