Copy/pasting copyrighted content into Wikipedia

[edit]

Copyright problem icon One of your recent edits has been removed in whole or in part, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. All such contributions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously, and persistent violators of our copyright policy will be blocked from editing. See Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources for more information. Thanks for your work maintaining the quality of Wikipedia. I’m happy to re-word my contribution. When I went to view the page history I see that you have hidden my edit so that I can’t see what I wrote to see what it was that you objected to. Please send me a copy of the change that you didn’t like, and I will attempt to re-write it in a way that is acceptable. StuartCheshire (talk) 23:32, 29 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You copied material directly from this source. I'm not going to repost what you copied here because, again, it's copyrighted. Just don't copy/paste things into Wikipedia from other sources. OhNoitsJamie Talk 23:45, 29 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
What’s the best way to add this citation so that it won’t just get reverted and hidden again? I don’t want to get into an edit war. Can you suggest some appropriate text to allow a reference to this citation? StuartCheshire (talk) 07:56, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If you wish to add content, it's your responsibility to paraphrase it appropriately. Please read Wikipedia:Copying_text_from_other_sources. OhNoitsJamie Talk 14:50, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
